On a separate note...im disappointed with the performance per clock on the DS4 at least.
Im roughly 0.2 secs slower on Spi 1M and 15-20 seconds slower in 32M (and im fairly confident it aint me!)
Happy to be shown to be wrong though- if anyone feels like cracking out a Pi 1M and 32M at 3600MHz on their DS4, feel free. any combo/timings ya like.
New beta bios for GA-P35C-DS3R.(F4G)

F5E for the P35-DS3R is up. It is an official beta.
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...S&FileID=12919
DS4: I tried the F5g BIOS....
My old BIOS was F5f and on the 4:5 ratio, there was a black hole between 370 and 405 FSB. (possibly on other ratios too...wasnt finished testing when F5g came out.
With F5g, that hole is absolutely gone- absolutely brilliant! Its a fairly tight strap and it HAS improved my Spi 32M times.
Before: 400x9, 5:78 ratio. RAM @ 640 5-5-4
Now...: 400x9, 2:3 ratio. RAM @ 600 5-5-4.. 5 seconds faster than the above so far.
There are also 2 strap options for the 1:2 ratio...either 800 or 1066 straps.
Good BIOS. So far I love it.

So, I've fired up my new DS3P with a E6850 and soon some 5300 Ballistix. What BIOS should I get?
My apologies K404.
Regarding your timings SuperPi is memory sensitive I believe, and none of the P35 Gigabyte boards have been tuned yet regarding memory settings. The Performance enhance option is not even functional. I would guess ya already used Memset to set the MCHbar strap to a tighter setting? I have not had a chance yet to test the F5L Bios and see if it fixes the Memory Performance setting.
No, Gigabyte boards will not offer a memory multiplier below "2", which is the same as 1:1. You cannot set the RAM lower than the FSB on their boards.

i'm trying to remove the silent pipe on my DS4 but there is a screw underneath the heat sink which can not be reached, why would they stick it there? any ideas on reaching it?
thanks road runner...
Bios F5C for P35-DS3 is crap. Problems with 1:1 divider.
Use Bios F4![]()
Big news! The recent released beta BIOS's on Gigabyte's website have fixed the lax MCH strap and tightened the memory settings. "Memory Performance Enhance" setting now controls the MCH Strap and sets it aggressively at low FSBs.
For DQ6 users: the beta F5L BIOS on Gigabyte's website has fixed the non-working "Memory Performance Enhance" feature. I've only just started testing, but these are some quick checks with 10 min stable Orthos runs using the 1:1 divider.
266FSB Stock
Standard= MCH Strap of 11
Extreme= MCH Strap of 3
333FSB
Standard= MCH Strap of 11
Extreme= MCH Strap of 7
400FSB Overclock:
Standard= MCH Strap of 11
Turbo= MCH Strap of 6
Extreme= MCH Strap of 6
501FSB Overclock
Turbo= MCH Strap of 9
Extreme= MCH Strap of 9
Standard seems to use default values in all cases. So far Turbo/Extreme settings have not once caused an error in Orthos. I've just hit the 30 min stable mark at 501FSB "Extreme".Time to tighten the MCH strap manually and see how low it can go again...
I cannot currently test higher FSB's due to my 8500 Ballistix down for RMA.![]()

Yip F5h for the P35-DS3P now has a working Memory Performance Enhance too.
Running at 416mhz and 4:5, the MCH Strap was set to 9 for F4. It's now 10 on Standard, and 7 on both Turbo and Extreme. The sub-timings are also a little tighter on Turbo and Extreme.
