Windwithme I am looking at picking up one of these mobos for a budget rig and I was wondering just how high does the V-core and v-dimm on this go?

1ghz O/C on air is pretty descent. Yields of the new memory controller look pretty good as well with many people already over 1ghz DDR2. Hoping this winter 65nm transition gets some big dogs out for us all to play with! We will need em to compete with conroe setups cause they all look to be running as fast as current Pentium D 900 series chips.

    Great stuff there windwithme.

I would just like to remind everyone that this chip is $109 on newegg right now

Hence the reason it was chosen for the AMD Gaming on a budget rig here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=101396

Mine just came in and ill def play with it this weekend and post some numbers up. Im ideling at 32C with the stock cooler, and i just mounted it using Arctic Ceramique. Anyways Im aiming to pickup a better HSF this weekend, once I can get ahold of one (if not locally im heading up to Rochester to Frozen CPU saturday). Apparently any that use the stock 3 prong mounting system work alright on AM2 brackets?

That's a pretty solid OC. I'll have to look into getting this for an interim CPU until the X2s drop in price.

need to see some more benchies... right now I don't see any benefit to the AM2 socket, My proc is almost exact same speed, but my ram is less than half the speed, and I still get almost exact same results... there must be some application where the ddr2 makes a diff

*edit* of course he is using .1v less so he should have some headroom, whereas my processor is at the max for air... but still, clock-for-clock no difference I can see.

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

Any problems setting up the system?

I cannot get a picture on the first boot.

    My system:

    MSI K9N SLI Platinum
    AM2 3000+
    2x 1GB G.Skill DDR2 800
    MSI x800
    WD 74GB Raptor
    Enermax Liberty 500W

RAM and Graphics card worked flawlessly on former system.
