Cool...B05 was worse for me than shipping bios. Something to look forward to tonight.

Hey Guys, I downloaded the Beta 5 Bios for the ABIT In9-32xMax and installed and set every thing up to run and when I rebooted everything was stiil at default. BUT MY BOOT Screen said BATT FAILURE!!!. OMFG! AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

Luckily I just happen to have friends, who told me to just take the Battery off of that other board and use it for the ABIT.

Thanks for the Beta Bios files guys! I'm gonna try Beta.06 tonight.

Damn one of the modules of my TI Alpha kit has gone bad and will fail memtest @ stock no matter what.

So I asked for an RMA. But if I have to return the whole kit I am screwed sincew I will not be able to use my PC at all. I think I will buy another kit too and go for 4GB since I will install Vista too (dual boot).

Anyone running the board overclocked succesfully with 4GB?

Shawn is your system overclocking properly with 4GBs of RAM? I am thinking of going that route too.

I'll pop in another set of Geils after I mess with B06 a bit and let you know how it goes. This isn't a matched set (Ultra DDR1000's and Ultra DDR1160's) so if I can get it to work proper you shouldn't have any problems

I ran it through some light tests at 266*13 for 3.45Ghz without issue. I also ran it at 366*10 for 3.66Ghz with the same good results. I haven't pushed it really hard, just 3dMark2005/2006, Everest and played BF2142 for an hour (on line) at each setting. I know, not very scientific, but stable enough for me.

Using 4 gigs doesn't seem to be a problem other than it will take a whole lot more work depending on what you consider "overclocked". I've managed to run 400 x 9, 1.5vcore, 2.1vdimm and 1.45vnb at 1T with the memory linked and synced and memory on auto. This is with E6600 and two pairs of mismatched Geil Ultra memory kits using beta bios B06. You will most likely have to boot with one kit and manually adjust voltage upward b4 adding the second kit (as I had to do).

That's all I'm gonna do for now cuz I have no intention of running 4gb's at the moment You should have no problem unless of course the board just plain don't like your memory and or you have very high expectations on what a good OC is...

Hmm, the thing is that right now I don't need 4GBs and by the time I do 2GB dimms will be much better than now. The reason I am considering is because I will be left without memory untill my replacement OCZ will return.

    I will think about it.

    Thank you for the info.

Consider buying a cheapy kit to hold you over till your OCZ's are replaced. Even a single stick to go uber cheap. Always good to have something bootable laying around too...

Guys keep in mind when updating to a newer bios, make a clear c-mos and do changes at one page at a time within bios - save exit - into bios again, next page - save exit and so on....Leave last the frequencies etc....

I have a "hole" at 1550 to 1600....Can you try and tell me please?....

    Some updates....

STABLE 100% ....NO FREEZES - NO REBOOTS - NOTHING.....

VMCH Max stable is 1.63Volts real....in my case....
VHT puting it from 1.5Volts to 1.65Volts it's OK...
VTT (VFSB) MAX was 1.6Volts - more than that it was WAY higher that the VCore and the CPU got crazy....
    VCore was at 1.55Volts real....

Doing VTT Mod I gained no more fsb on QUAD.....but it's OK for now, I'll live with that....

These were done on air and with Tuniq heatsink...Fans where placed over NB and Mos-Fets' heatsinks......
I hope it acts the same under LN2 and I'll do OK....

Yesterday i had this weird dream: putting the whole board in a plastic bag and completely submerging it in ln2... hehe...
had a quick talk with my shrink, and he said its the "beta" syndrome...

Weird but true but after talking to OCZ support (really fast response 15 minutes lol) they advised me to test the module at 2V and it WORKS! Actually both work and they can do 3 passes of memtest so I guess I was overvolting them I am testing them now at 960Mhz and trying to find the best stable voltage however I have to go 4-4-4-15 instead of 12 for the moment but it is right within the spec.

I really want to get the next official BIOS since i can't be bothered to test the betas.

OldGUY you are rigth about buying a cheap kit but fortunately my memory is working (although at too low voltage hehe) so I might be set for now. I have a 256MB DDR2 module for testing so I could just add a cheapo second just to have internet.

I have found that just cranking up the vdimm to rated v is a no no on this board. Kunaak has a thread about the Asus 680i with similar findings which opened me eye balls.

What exactly do you mean by that coz I'm with 2.775Vdimm right now......

Well either the board overvolts or it has such clean voltage that going above 2.2 is giving the DIMMS a hard time cause the stream is stronger than expected. I am not expert in this however so maybe Hippro could shed some light.

What I found is that with my OCZ Titanium Alpha PC8000 is that as I increase the Frequency the less the voltage the more stable - Right now I am running my modules at 960MHZ and they are stable at 2.150Vdimm anything above that crashes Orthos - the higher the sooner. My timings are -4-4-4-15 right now. So I finally managed to stabilise my memory by reducing the Voltage!! And this was OCZs advice as well.

HiPro, is this an es chip or retail?
Do you know what factors allowed the qx6700 to go to 400 fsb?
    Thanks

    It's a Retail one......

You need VTT (VFSB) and VGTLRef Voltages PLUS 2 shortcircuits on mobo......

Is this a modded board to support vgtlref and if so, where are the modifications documented?

    Thanks!

@HIPRO & JOHNNY:i was wondering, have you guys found 4 dividers or only two on this board? (as far as vgtlref is concerned)

I finally put this board on. Worked fine for an XP installation with an E6700, an OCZ 600W and an ATI X600. When I installed it in my case with a QX6700, a Seasonic S12 600W and a BFG 8800GTS, it goes from code "83", to "8E" and then stops at "87" for 2-3 seconds and then dies...

    Any suggestions?

Yes, it's actually the Intel retail fan of an X6800, but as far as I can see it's identical to the one from the QX6700. 4-pin fan connector, properly connected to the 4-pin fan header on the board and fan seems to be spinning ok (for the 4-5 seconds the board operates before shutting itself down)

    [EDIT]
The 8-pin 12V PSU connector is plugged in, when using either the Seasonic or the OCZ PSU.

hmmm ok, last I saw that error was when I setup watercooling and didn't have the fan header connected - basically it was a protection feature to stop the cpu burning out. I take it you've tried it without the 8800 too?
