Yes that seems close though I think a 930 with 8 threads would be higher yet at 4850. Certainly a nice chip for sure. Could you do a 32meg Pi run in the future at that speed?

The score above my 2500K is my 930 @ 4.5 with 8 threads which is to be expected. It would have to be a mental 930 to do 4850MHz with HT on though..... I think the 2600K with a bit more cache & 8 threads will be the biz though.

    stasio please help me.

im in confusion about the new mobo....

i love UD4 layout, but i need to know if 12power phase's are able to push an 2600k around 4500/5000mhz.

do you have a data sheet about total power output of the new gigabyte p67 series?

No 2600K love? What I don't like about these is how they just suddenly stop at 4.8 - 4.9GHz or so usually for no reason, like Intel deliberately limited the OC a bit and 2600K they will probably limit to like 5.1 - 5.3GHz.

What I'm saying is the limit where the cpu multi becomes totally unstable no matter how much voltages you push into them.
    Intel? Core i5-4670K @ 4.3 GHz | ASRock Extreme6 Z87 | G.Skill Sniper 2x8GB @ DDR4-1866 CL9 | Gigabyte GTX 970 OC Windforce 3x | Super Flower Titanium 1000W | ViewSonic VX2268wm 120Hz LCD | Phanteks PH-TC14PE | Logitech MX-518 | Win 7 x64 Professional | Samsung 850 EVO & 840 Pro SSDs

this OC limit depends on old CPU Microcoderevision in Bios...

actually Intel is the only who has the newest Microcoderevision in Bios all other use older one with CPU limit.

this is my ES which run before max. 4.8GHz with old bios.. (all air cooled!)

wait for a bios with latest microcode patch and all CPUs can clock higher

    @ OC Maximus

there is nothing under the heatsink, its only optic....

    @ radaja

default voltage is ~1.2v but CPU-Z show wrong VCore on Gigabyte Boards.

Thanks Stasio, I've played with all the BIOS's & didnt find anything that helped me. Im on F2 because I'm too lazy to re-flash after I brick the BIOS pushing the board & having it restore from the backup F2 BIOS.

Still running on the XP 32-Bit drive I found I'll put one up when I change it back.

2600k in Jan 2011, I'll be away for work for a couple weeks early jan then when I get back I'll grab one.

Hope it is the BIOS microcode... I've pumped 1.8v!!! into mine & best I could get into windows with was 4995MHz. It ran LinX stable though so I'm sure thats not the limit of the silicone.

Yes mate retail, I think 1.245 is what the Giga boots at but it increases with more clock speed.

P.S LOL about the centre heatsink.... no wonder it runs cool!!!!

Did you try the hotkey to flash the backup BIOS to current version, that might save you from all that hassle, if they've enabled it already.

On bootup, with a latest BIOS other than F2 , press ALT + F12 where you would normally press DEL to enter BIOS. If it's enabled it should start BIOS recovery, and flash the backup BIOS with the MAIN BIOS.

    scuse but...

my older mobo have reset clear c-mos on the back.

all the new giga p67 are without clear c-mos button on the back....

if i overclock and my setting are wrong... i need to open the case?

in the near future gigabyte enable p67 mobo with full EFI bios? (2 x 64mb bios...)

I managed to get my hands on a retail i7-2600K yesterday. Unfortunately, I don't have a motherboard yet, so I can't run CPU-Z... or anything else on it yet.

However, the text on the top of the CPU is as follows:
i(M)(C)09 (the M and C are in little circles)
INTEL(R) CORE TM i 7-2600K (The R is in a circle, the TM is superscript)
    SR00C 3.40GHZ
    MALAY
L038A660 (theta4) (Following the batch code is an elipse which appears to contain a small theta symbol followed by the number 4)

Hope this helps. Now I need get my hands on something a bit higher end than a UD4 or P8P67Pro to put it in...

Heck, I'm not sure if I can wait to get my hands on a UD7, I might run out and buy a UD4 or a P8P67Pro to tide me over (yay for return policies).

Edit: Of course, I'm currently running an Opteron 165 with 2GB of RAM, so I'm a bit anxious to get up and running on something modern. (Amusingly, each stick of RAM for my new system will be as large as the total amount of RAM in my old system.)
