Need Advice on TEC setup
Okay, I posted in the is TEC dead thread and thought I should ask for some advice before I purchase the TEC. Thank you in advance for your input.
First here's what I currently have to use with a TEC:
Single CPU only loop.
e8400 CPU @ 4.4GHz 1.56vcore, 185watts*
EK supreme WB with backplate
DangerDen Dual Heatercore with DD shroud (it's a little bigger than a PA 120.2)
4 Scythe Kaze 110 CFM fans on the heatercore, Push Pull config
Panworld/Blueline 40PX, 480GPH 120v AC pump
PPC 1200watt TurboCool
1/2" pure copper coldplate
tubing size is 1/2"
*CPU Wattage is according to this calculator http://extreme.outervision.com/tools.jsp#cpuoc
My question is this: Do you think I can cool this CPU with a TEC? If so which one? I have two in mind both at frozen CPU (expensive but I trust frozen).
Should I use:
437W Qmax Peltier
or the
245W Potted Peltier
My understanding is that the 245W may not have enough capacity to cool as much as I'd like it to. Using the stickies I know this:
245watt TEC = (1-(185/245))*69 = 16.9
437watt TEC = (1-(185/437))*69 = 39.8
Currently my CPU idles at 32C and under load (dual prime) at 62C with ambient temps around 25C.
So my next question is, do you think my cooling loop can accommodate either of these? If not, what type of loop could dissipate enough heat? I could upgrade and put two PA 120.2 rads in my case. They will fit. Obviously though I'd like to use what I have since the PA's are kind of expensive. Also I should note that I am familiar with waterproofing and all that. Just looking for advice for the TEC and my loop.
Thanks guys!
