hey maybe u should try the f4c bios
hey maybe u should try the f4c bios
Thanks for the tips Blazing...I only flashed with the floppy. And on the POST screen it says F3. I tried re-downloading the BIOS and reflashing it - no change. And yes, I did the "Load Optimize Defaults"
I will try to set the PCI-E to 100 - I think it's at 90 by default. Also, how do I control the PCI clock? Is that "FSB Voltage" in the BIOS?
Hey all, I am absolutely STUCK at 312FSB 2.8GHz stable. Here's my stuff & settings.
DS3 F3 BIOS (shows up F3 on POST & @BIOS, F1 in CPU-Z. I've tried reflashing with floppy 3 times)
E6600 Retail w/Ultra-120 (CPU stays VERY cool)
Whisper NB copper fansink (stays VERY cool)
2x1GB OCZ Plat EL PC6400 (2.1V-2.2V doesn't change a thing (4-5-4-15)
EVGA 7900GT

1 Raptor 740ADFD on yellow SATA 1
1 WD 250GB SATAII 16MB on yellow SATA 2

RAM's at 2.1V (+3V)
FSB's @ 312
Mem Divider's @ 2.0
PCI-E Freq's @ 100
VMCH @ +1
FSB @ +1
VCore @ 1.375V - I've tried dang near everything all the way up to 1.45V
EIST disabled
Thermal crap disabled
C1 disabled
What the heck else can I do?!?!
Things I guess I could try:
F4c BIOS (haven't heard many good results)
Disabled Legacy USB support
PLEASE HELP!

I feel your pain man.
Hopefully someone can help you.
Maybe power supply is a bit weak to be handling all that.
That’s harsh. I thought the DS3 and an E6600 would have been a good setup. Maybe on the off chance, you might have a bad Northbridge that can't handle any higher FSB speeds. Possibly.
It’s a shame that the DS3 has so many irritating problems, what could have been a good board turns out to be a big time waster.
I'm sick of people making blanket statements based on one person's problems with a mobo, regardless if that problem occured because of the user. I also haven't seen a 4Ghz stable E6600 on air, so why do people expect to see it now? That's too unrealistic.Originally Posted by pcdoc1
strange that CPU-Z indicates bios version as F1, and F1 is crappy OC bios
Flash bios to F4C using floppy or something? CPU-Z may be indicating a problem with your bios version, and this may be causing your crappy OC.

try to flash first to F2 and see if CPU-Z will show correct bios version, also use @bios program
Ok, but he can't get past 2.8ghz (400mhz oc).Originally Posted by thunderstruck!

I tried disabling Legacy USB with no luck.
I don't know if I want to use F4c because I don't want to have to swap RAM n crap out if this new BIOS forces you to reset jumpers.
DANG. I'm gonna do it anyway just to see if CPU-Z gets fixed.
OK, CPU-Z now shows BIOS as F4c.
Cool.
Now I'll try to see if 2.85GHz will be stable under this new BIOS. I'm gonna be pissed if I've gotta swap RAM out, hehe.
OK, I flashed my DS3 with the F4c using @BIOS.
It has done absolutely nothing to help my 2.8GHz / 312x9 wall I'm hitting.
Prime bombs instantly @ anything past this.
Shyzzle. Anybody wanna trade their E6400 for my E6600???
This sucks.
Lastat, whaddya think about all of settings? They all look right, right?
You betcha!
try increase vmch +0.2v, vdimm +0.3v maybe, and +0.1v vfsb vcore to 1.45v

Have you tried lowering the Multi to 7x or 8x to try to isolate what's holding you back?

DS3
Corsair Naut500 / Storm WB
I have tried all of ^these^ and then some.Originally Posted by theteamaqua

I just tried relaxing RAM to 5-5-5-15 and that didn't do anything.
No I haven't...so how should I do that?Originally Posted by Pitt
Set it to 8x and raise up the FSB? Will this cause the RAM to run slower or something?
Please tell me how.
Something I haven't done is run memtest86 yet.
When you flash disbale "Keep DMI Data", that's why CPU-Z is reporting F1.Originally Posted by Brahmzy
It's simple guys, the reason CPU-Z reports and different bios number is because it's holding the DMI data from a previous bios. I know this because it has been reported before and my own experience of flashing.
If you use @bios and tick Clear DMI Data + Clear PnP Data Pool you'll see the corect bios listed in CPU-Z.
^^Cool. It's now showing F4c.
So, I ran memtest86 while set at 318FSB (this is where I can boot into windows but Prime bombs out) and the memory passed with flying colors.
I also tried using a 7x multi and 330FSB and it wouldn't even boot into Windows. What does that mean? I can get 312x9 to boot and be perfectly stable.
maybe because it's slower then stock clocks? Not sure if you can downclock the chip lower then spec....Originally Posted by Brahmzy
EDIT: Did you run memtest at 7x330?
