those are definately not pci-x slots and the 64 in the p5w64 stands for the total speed of the pci-e slots (4 x 16 = 64)
WOOOHAAA this is the board I have been waiting for!!! 4x16 slots now where can I get more info, specs, est time to retail etc etc etc!!!!!

Hey Andre,
am I right, that the P5W64 WS Pro has two NIC interfaces, one GBit PCIe and one GBit PCI? Do you have any hints, why Asus implements 2 GBit PCIe interfaces on the more ordinary P5W DH, while they give only one GBit PCIe interface to their flagchip board?
BTW: any news about the release date? Still no hints from Asus...
Regards

^^^
There will be more interest in this board than the p5wdg2-ws pro as pci-e slots are more usable than pcix in general terms. Now it's just when asus decides to release it to our side of the pond.

there's only so many pcie lanes they can use remember. There's none spare for 2 pcie lan.Originally Posted by Dat Ei
I just went through the older p5wdg2-ws manual ( no pro yet ) and the gigabit lan is pcie 4x on both, where did you find out that the pro and p5w64 has pci lan on the second port? I guess we'll have to wait to be sure but it seems like pcie lan for all 3

Witghout double checking, I'm pretty sure that on my P5wdg2-ws professional it is both pci lan, so it should be the same on the 64 I would think.Originally Posted by Torphoto

Same - the problem with the non-Pro is the obvious lack of Conroe/Allendale support - which is why we are all waiting.Originally Posted by nox_uk

The pics of the P5W64 show one Marvell 88E8052 (PCIe) and one 88E8001 (PCI as far as I know).Originally Posted by Torphoto

What are the PCI-E slots electrically?
I would imagine something along the lines of:
Slot 1: 16x/8x
Slot 2: 4x/8x
Slot 3: 1x/4x
Slot 4: 1x/1x
WHich in this case the layouy would not be too go for SLI/CF. I am just wildly guessing - or did they managed to implement more PCI-E lanes on the Southbrigde?
They're supposed to be 16x/8x , 8x , 8x , 4xOriginally Posted by mikeguava

Just started looking what that IDT chip was and hurray - an extra 24 PCI-E lanes.
Had missed this post:

Isn't it P5W64 as in 64 lanes, hence:
16x

or, with lanes spread elsewhere
16x
8x
8x
16x
With the remaining 16 lanes used elsewhere?
1 thing for sure is 64 lanes.
Have I got the wrong end of the stick entirely?
