    Completely New To WC

    This is what I am looking to do...

    I want to get something nice and clean looking and not too much in price.

    I have a DFI SLI-DR Motherboard with Dual BFG 6800 OCs and an AMD 3700+.

    I want to put both VGAs, CPU, and Chipset under water cooling.

    Now my main question is will a water block fit sitting underneath both VGAs on the Chipset and if so which will work for me. Is it better to buy a kit or but the pieces itself and make it custom? Thanks guys as always.

    Don't worry about the chipset block, I don't think one fits on the DFI board with an SLI setup anyway. The NF4 chipset doesn't get hot enough to worry about, plus it just adds more restriction in your loop.

    This is going to be a hefty heat load, but to save cash you'll want to do it all in one loop I guess. Pick up a Swiftech mcp-655/ Danger Den D5 pump, its DC and quite powerful with 1/2" connections. Then get a Danger Den TDX waterblock for A64 and a pair of Maze 4 GPU blocks. Radiator-wise, you'll need at least a BIX2 or dual heatercore, but might want to step up to a BIX3, again cheapest at DangerDen.com.

    Do this order: pump, rad, cpu, gpu1, gpu2, T-line or reservoir, back to pump.

    Others will different choices, but this is a pretty darn good setup for you. People will try to get you into higher power Iwaki pumps, but they are AC and having a DC pump is REALLY convenient.

    Get a bip3 actually with some nice 25mm thick fans and it'll only be 2" tall so its easy to mount anywere.

    even though NF4 chipset gets H0T but you can't do anything about it
    with sli on DFI. you can get individual parts off dangerden shop.

    That is why you want the cpu to be the first thing after the radiator, coolest water to the cpu block.

    guys, how does a RBX compare to a TDX from DD ? in terms of cooling...

    wouldn't it be better to get a RBX and have one outlet going to each videocard, so that one card is not getting the heat from the other one?

    pump- cpu- both cards- res- rad.... ?

    and get a res with 2 inputs so that you do not need to Y the tubing back to the res, or rad depending on how you set it up....

    Its really not recommended to run them in parallel. One reason is that the flow rate through each will be half what it would be if they were in series. Also, if one has slightly more hose, or a tighter bend, there will be more restriction and so that gpu will get less flow than the other.

    Performance between the RBX and TDX is VERY close, I think like 1 degree or so. I really would not recommend running the blocks in parallel, but if you get the RBX then run both lines back to the reservoir and it is just less restrictive than one return line.

    RBX outperforms the TDX by between .5C and 1C at any given flowrate; however, with the added tangle of tubing because it has 2 outs, it probably is not worth it.

    carmenta, loop order doesnt matter at all. having the cpu before the gpus realy wont get u noticeable gains. the water coming from the gpus will only be .4C higher at most.

    Personally, I'd rather have my cpu 0.4C cooler than my vid card. I know loop order doesn't matter for restriction or anything, but every 0.4c at the cpu matters to me

    And its not carmenta.....
