let me tell you why SLi Intel Edition SUX!

got my asus P5ND2-SLi and i bought 2 sticks of 1gb each pc 5400 (533) OCZ EB (3-2-2-8) the thing wouldnt boot.... then i buy 2 sticks of OCZ 666 4-4-4-8 gold series (512 each) when i boot it says fsb =667 and cpuz says im getting 166 fsb!! then i tried getting 2 sticks of ddr 6400 (800mhz) (5-5-5-10) systems wont boot!!!! PIECE OF JUNK!!! when i open cpuz it says im at 14x multiplyer (640 chip 3.2Ghz 2mb L2) which is 2.8 GHZ even though all thermal managment is turned off in bios. the bux is supposidly running at 200mhz but when i click them memory tab it says 166 !! this bull asus overclocker tool says im running at 3200hz the whole time! then when i try to overclock even 1-2 or 3 mhz fsb the whole damn systrems crashes! and needs to clear the bios to boot again! when it does boot it takes an imense amount of time to get on; example when i hit the power button it takes more then 25-35 sec sometimes before the monitor light turns green and the post screen starts!!! BULL CHIZZY!!! what should i do? (besides have buying the S8NSLi instead!) i've had THE WORST luck with asus tech support, i think its the worst in the industry imposible to get ahold of and they dont relly want to help.
    HELP!!!
p.s. i got screen shots of thoes timmings at home ill post tonight im just at work right now.

2ed Q i got 2 BFG 7800GTX's (460/1300 stock oc'd to 495/1350) in sli mode running freeware 3Dmark2k5 and i keep getting 8k scores! WHAT THE HECK!? is my setting wrong or is it just cuz its freeware copy/settings?

C19 seems to be having some issues, i know when i tested it i was not that impressed.

The reason the EB would not boot is the bios does not recognise cas3, its a simple mod asus can do just like Abit did a while back.

The ATI crossfire is a little better and you may consider this but you may need new vid cards.

Update to the 0705 0708 or 0801 bios versions, i have the hosted on my website:

    dillusion.net/asus/0708.BIN and 0801.BIN etc

Any bios version PAST 0705 will NOT LET YOU OVERCLOCK. BIOS version 0708 fixes the cas 3 problem.

The memory on this board is QUAD Pumped so CPU-Z says times 4 is the right speed.

For an Intel Processor, always an Intel Core Logic. Accept no substitutions. ASUS are one of the best board manufacturers, in this case it's nVidia's Core Logic the one that needs to be re-worked, heck! it didn't even support a Pentium D 820 whe it was released.

    I luv ASUS boards!!!

Yea, many are pissed because they really looked forward to the nVidia Intel Edition. Some folks who understand competition hoped nVidia and at least ATI would offer better competition than VIA or SIS. This would force better prices for Intel Chipset based boards.

i appreciate thoes bios's even asus dosent have them on there site (not that i could find) overclocking this system was my #1 priority, ive got a arctic web TEC in the mail (437watt tec) and 2 BFG (460/1300)7800gtx's with waterblocks on the way also. what bios would you use? do you overclock your IE SLi? how far? im also using a 630 proc 3.2G 2mb l2 with 3 570J's in the mail for oc testing...would the 0705 allow usage of this expensive OCZ ddr800 i just picked up or am i toast on that ? also about the 0705 what do you mean it wont let you overclock? i cant oc right now anyways so anything is a plus... are the options gone out of bios ? p.s. the manual and asus tech support says this POS board supports DC chips 820, 830, 840 and whatnot....

is that board not SLI? because i always loved asus too,
To overclock but with restart issue: BIOS 0605
For an overall stable system with NO bugs and 100% working SLI but NO overclocking: 0801
For an overclock with problems: 0705
    To use dual-core CPU's: 0802

Thats how it comes down too. Its not that ASUS took overclocking away, it just DOESNT WORK. No changes you make in the BIOS will appear in windows, once windows loads all overclock settings go back to default with any BIOS past 0705.

It's my experience that P5ND2-SLi is just a crappy board. I've built probably 15 systems with that board and there's a bunch of wierd and obscure compatability issues. I haven't tested other brands but who cares when the P5WD2 OC's so much better.

and guys....the P5WD2 doesn't apply to this thread because he wants SLI......even though it t3h best board out there for 775...

    when you say
For an overclock with problems: 0705
what kind of problems are you talking about? do YOU use this bios on your board? do you overclock? TBH i cant even get "Ai NOS" to work... i can play 2-3-4 hours of BF2 without problems right now so i think its stable...do you know if there going to reliese another bios after 0802? god i hope so i want to overclock this bad boy... maybe i should get another brand of board? maybe gigabyte?? or is it the chipset alltogether? !!

    P.S. RVWINKLE
if you had 2 7800gtx's would you downgrade to the P5W??

That's true, I for one am still hoping for SLI support on the P5WD2 or any 955x board really. However I am running 2x 7800GTX cards on the P5WD2 and it works like a charm. In stead of running SLI, which cannot be enabled in the drivers even with the SLI bridge, I'm running dual monitors (1 of each card in stead of 2x monitors of one card). Thus I can now play BF2 on one @ 1600x1200 with 4xaf/8xaf on one monitor while watching tv on the other completely fluid. Something I coudn't do with just 1x 7800GTX card and my 2 monitors. I still would like to try out SLI though.

So I just got the Abit NI8 in the mail today, I'll probably test it out sometime this week, however I'm back to work now, so I don't have much time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this Abit NI8, which is also C19, will be ok for overclocking and stability. I haven't read anything about the Abit board yet but I'm just hoping it will be good. I'll report back as soon as I have testet it a bit. Keeping my fingers crossed.

No problem, I'll keep you guys updated. I started a thread in here a while ago about NF4 Intel Ed. hoping that somebody had knowledge of a decent Intel socket 775 SLI capable motherboard. Besides from largely negative end user reports on the Asus and MSI NF4 Intel Ed. there was no feedback. I have also been searching high and low for ANY info on the NI8 for over a month now, and I just haven't found any...yet. So when I saw the NI8 in stock at a german dealer last week, I decided to just go ahead and try it out for myself. I'll probably wait until the weekend before I put the system together though.

And I hope you make it to the 5 Ghz club, I'll be one of the first to welcome you, it's a pretty nice "club"...

sluflyer06 > Don't waste your money. The Abit NI8 SLI also really sucks

It must be the NF4 Intel Ed.(C19) chipset that has major issues. I've been playing around with the NI8 most of this afternoon. It overclocks very poorly. Also one has to overclock in like 5-10 Mhz intervals, or it won't overclock at all. If you even touch the memory timings the board goes TOTALLY bogus and won't boot windows. This also goes for memory speed. For the first time in like 5 years I actually HAD to install windows at the default cpu speed, or the installation would just freeze at some point. Also forget about installing windows with 2x videocards in there, it won't happen.

I can overclock the fsb up to around 230 Mhz, much over that and my benchmark scores go way down. My Asus P5WD2 handled the same cpu @ 280+ MHz fsb with ease..... So I've lost over 1 Ghz in optimal benchmark cpu speed

Also while 3dmark03 seems to be as expected (a little over 30k with the cpu @ 4140 Mhz), 3dmark05 has serious issues and of the 3 tests, actually only test 3 shows some gain in SLI mode.

I'm going back to my P5WD2 as soon as I can get this piece of sh*t out of my case again. I can't believe Nvidia has actually had the nerve to send crap chipsets like the NF4 Intel Ed. on the market.

Right now, if one wants SLI it HAS to be an AMD system IMHO.

damn....thats very dissapointing news........955x needs to get SLI support........tis tis on Nvidia for tossing a set out the door........its hard to believe you jsut can't do SLI on Intel right now....how pathetic.

Sorry you had to find out through trial and error....at least you still have your P5WD2.

Well, yes it is really dissappointing ideed. But somehow I expected it after reading about the woes of everybody else's experiences with Intel NF4 Ed. What amazes me is how on earth any reviewer could ever give these boards any rewards. They stink, ZEROKOOL is absolutely right. It has, however, nothing to do with Asus, MSI's and Abit's boards are just as bad. Even the best manufactures cannot fix a really bad chipset.

If my Asus P5WD2 doesn't get SLI support I'll just get a couple of R520's and run some crossfire. Cudos to ATI for postponing the release to fix problems. IMHO these NF4 Intel Ed- C19 chipsets should've never hit the market.

that absolutley correct....on that note do a mobo have to have crossfire support built in? or do you just need a crossfire master card.

As far as I understand all you need is a master card. I've read that 955x specifically will be supported. The thing is,again as far as I understand, there is nothing technically stopping Nvidia from making SLI work on non-Nvidia chipsets. But I guess we can all guess why they're not really in any hurry to give us i955X SLI driver support.

well heres the problem with our board though...we can't do 8x8 only 16x4....unless there is some sweet soft mod or hard mod that will open up more lanes.

I've heard from a guy @ overclockers australia that it works just fine. He had 2x 6600GT's running in SLI with the older 66.75 beta drivers. thet actually allowed SLI on non-nvidia chipsets, and 16x/4x works just fine. It may give a minor drop in socre, but it's definetely nothing a 1 Ghz higher cpu speed won't easily make up for...

but what happens when you've got two r520s instead of a 6600gt?....the 6600gts are great cards but they don't push anywhere near the same amount of data down the pipe of say a 7800gtx.

I'm quite sure it'll work just fine. The "correspondance" between the cards mainly (or exclusively?) goes through the connector, and 4x pci-e should only cause a very minor performance drop over 8x pci-e
