    Sempron 939 Goodness

Had a little bird fly into my hands today and drop off a new Sempron for my entertainment. Haven't seen anyone post with a 939 Sempron yet, maybe this is a first?

    3000+ Sempron Socket 939

    SDA3000DIO2BP
    LBBLY 0522GPHW

SSE3, x86-64 enabled, looks just like a Venice with 128k of L2 cache.
Let's see how this one plays out.

The Ultra-D bios 0623 was recognising it as a 3000+ Sempron, good on you DFI, no hassles is what I like to see.

No fancy cooling here, just the stock heatsink that came with my 3000+ Venice.

Here's the max I could get without raising the voltage any higher, just a suicide screenie:
    3GHz at 1.8v

Here's what I'm working with now, a bit less prone to crashing:
    2.7GHz at 1.4v

Running some Super Pi 1M runs (not much of a stability test I know, but it's late here and this is first plays with a new toy):
    2.70 @ 1.40v
    2.80 @ 1.58v
    2.83 @ 1.65v
    2.86 @ 1.74v

This is blowing the doors off my 0517 Venice.

Will keep you guys posted once I get some stability runs in and pull my ram up to 1:1, for now it's late and this boy needs to shut his eyes.

P.S. Sorry for the lack of pics, no digital camera to snap the cpu with. I do have screens of the SuperPi 1M runs but nothing much to see there except what I've said. If you want them, I'll post them, but best to save the bandwidth for some stable results. (Damn 56kers..)
    No rig right now.

P.S. Sorry for the lack of pics, no digital camera to snap the cpu with.
Yeah, what he said. The best I can do is an old scanner at my parent's place.
It looks just like a Venice (surprise, surprise) but I'll pull it out and scan it when I can.

    Care to clarify?
Had an OEM machine come in for testing purposes. CPU-Z told me it was a Sempron but wouldn't say the Technology, Code Name or Package.
I thought it was a 754 until I saw it had x86-64 enabled.
    This qualifies as "testing", no?

I am sure the client would be thrilled about the chip being suicidedly screened @ 3 GHz on box HSF lol

just clarifying. amd has now released s754 cpus with x86-64 extensions. they are usually just an extra few more dollars than the s754 32-bit semprons. (www.amd.com/pricing)

my guess is your cpu is just a venice with a part of the cache that is defective.

Hahaha. I wouldn't do that to anyone Ivan. This is one for our business for testing purposes. No client will receive this.
I wouldn't play with a client's chip for moral reasons, even if it was a FX..

I think it may have had something to do with the fact that he was running CPU-Z 1.27.2, so it probably didn't recognize a cpu which @ that time had not been created
    Oh, BTW: NICE CLOCKS!

Yeah, count me in,too. Now guys....

    what are we gonna do?

I mean, we should take care of the others, huh.
You understand what I mean, they already know too much, don't they?

Sorry, just couldn't resist that one!

    But now, back to topic:
It's really interesting to hear about the Socket939 Semprons. There were samples for month now, but no official release date on them yet. Now that the 64-bit enabled Semprons for Socket754 are availabel, I wonder how long it'll take until the Socket939 pendants will officially be announced.

I've heard that they may be OEM only...I'll try to confirm that though

yeah I had one several months back
    nice little bugger it is.
Yours seems to clock better though.

I got 2.7ghz out of mine with stock cooler but that was pushing the edges of stabily, and even with better cooler didn't really go higher. I think mine was a winnie core though, and yours might a venice core.

I think mine will end up in my wife's email/ebay/freecell machine

Funny you mention that, my gf is the likely recipient of this chip.

Is that where all Semprons go to be imprisoned?

    lol,
no this actually served as a spare machine gaming chip for quite awhile. Paired with a 6800Ultra AGP it ran very well
