To cool or not to cool(NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra)

ok I just made the switch from Intel. This is what I have gone with:

San Diego 3700+ Rev. E from Monarch
    Asus A8N-E
    X850 PE XT PCI-X
    Mushkin lvl1 1GB 3200

    Well my question is:
Does the NB on this chipset run hot?

I am WCing everything I just dont know if it is worth it to WC that as well.

How do you think these combination of comps are?

IMO it's not worth it , just find a decent HSF for the chipset .

it does get quite warm but the chip is designed to tolerate it. IF you have good case flow and a half decent hsf you should be fine though some seem the chipset temp higher than their cpu temp!

You can put a Zalman nb47 on the Northbridge by cutting off some pins.

so for overclocking wise, it woulnt be worth it? How is the stock heatsink on it?

the stock does its job just fine especially if you ramp up the speed of it via the bios. Be sure to apply some better paste than the stock tim however. I prefer ceramique. I am using the stock with ceramique with the fan on high and it never really breaks higher than mid to late 40s full load. Some people have their chipset higher than that idle and it is still fine.

the temps the chipset reaches even with the fans @ 7000rpm are a joke...it overheats way to much, plus the poor design of most boards (nvidia orders??) makes it hard to replace it with something better...

Anyway that will prolly be the least of your problems with nforce4...

Your case temps are probably a joke. Mine never got above 50C no mods at all.

37C load, Zalman NB47-J... Watercooling would definately be overkill. I have a case fan in the front (papst 26dB) that blows air onto it, nothing more though.
