    P4GPL-X + Dothan OC problems

    Hi...

I have got a P4GPL-X + 1.6Ghz Dothan and I only want to have FSB225, but it is impossible

    Hardware:
    P-M 730 SL85G @stock cooler
    P4GPL-X without Mods
    2x SATA HDD
    X700PRO PCIe
    2x512MB Twinmos BH5

Max. stable FSB with PCIe @ 100 is 215 !
216 MHz = Freeze or Reboot after ~1-5h (while gaming Doom3)
220 MHz = very, very unstable and freeze in BIOS or post screen
    225 MHz = NO BOOT

    PCIe @ 105 Mhz:
    225 MHz = NO BOOT

    wtf???

Tried run your memory in async mode and increasing chipset voltage?

Yes - ram @5:4 and all voltages @max (not CPU but it is enough too )

max. FSB is still at 215 Mhz...

Have you seen results from other overclockers that use the P4GPL-X? Your CPU a B1 or C0?

At this point IMHO you should try another video card...
Maybe this mobo (first time I heard of this model ) has an issue in the agp lock.
    Pentium M 'Dothan' 740 @ 2.80(280*10)/1120/DDR425/1.45v stock air qfan @11/15, ASUS P4P800-SE rev2.0, ASUS V9999LE GeForce 6800LE @16/6, 2x cheap Twinmos PC3200, 2xHitachi 7K250 RAID0, Coolermaster ATC-201C and blah blah blah

looks like another interesting alternative for the ct-479... if we could get a decent PCI-E board that supports ct-479, we could run 7800gtx!!!!

    of course

    last time i tried:
pcie 120 MHz -> sata not found
pcie 115 Mhz -> sata found, but 220 Mhz fsb is still not stable

    fsb 215 works rockstable again

What FSB is set in the CT 479? I get better fsb with jumpers in fsb400 than fsb533. If already tried, go try another memory and good luck...

try using this formula to calculate the necessary pcie frequency:

    pcie x 2.2 = fsb

so if you want an fsb of ~225 mhz you should try somewhere around 102 mhz pcie
    - maybe try 100-104 mhz, whatever works (best)
sky / s!p - we are oldskool, dammit.

I'll say the P4GD1 to. it is based on the 915P that overclocks better than the Intel 915PL chipset.

and if you will use a booster on a P4GPL-X you will loose your Dual channel since it only has 2 DDR dimms.

the 7800 GTX runs great with an oc dothan on the P4GPL-X

you have to put the PCIe frequency to 123 MHz, so you can get 270 MHz FSB.

here are my results with the 7800 GTX and a P-M @ 3,15 GHz

    both with GTX @ default

Please give more details!!!! You're the only one we "know" running this configuration, give us all the details and tweaks!!
I bet you're on an IDE HDD right??
