    utt ch-5 without dots?

    hi,
this is my first post here, so please give me some time.
I bought a kit of 2x512 from COMPUTERSMSA (they should be winbond ch-5 utt). Ram arrived today and I was very surprised when looking at the chips, I can“t find the typical "big dots"
So are there any utt“s from winbond without dots?
Ram is currently running on my dfi lanparty ultra b @ 10x240 (cpu could do up to 10x255) with 2-3-2-5 2T timings @ 3.2v (they get warm, but not really hot), few errors in memtest.
    Hope to find help here.
    Thanks
    Gipse
(I know my english could be better )

    they REALLY arent there??
Because sometimes you can barely see the dots on the chips.

Are there 2 metal bumps at the sides of the chips?

    hi,
    here“s a pic:
    http://www.bel-hardware.be/CMSAMCBH-5/UTT_CH-5_CHIP.jpg
mine looks the same, no dots as you can see...
    he wrote back:
"The factory have only Winbond chip …

For you, which chip can 2-2-2-5 @ 3.4V @ 250 MHz ? Only UTT Winbond CH-5 or BH-5, or few Micron chip.

    - Micron is more than 3x expensive per chip.

    - UTT BH-5 is about 2x expensive per chip.

Is a UTT CH-5 0.13µm chip, you can trust me."

I really don“t think that he want to sell "cheep" and faked ram to me!
So what do you think about it?
    Thanks

Should be try 2-2-2-x with 2.8-3.1 V dimm first. If it boot , its CH5-UTT

The dot in the lower left corner is not like the one in all the other XH-UTT ICs.
The metal slabs in both ends seem to be closer to each other than usually... (?)

Could it be CH-UTT but made by, say, like Infineon?

Or Winbond has done something to their ICs.
You were not supposed to see this.

There were some Winbond CH that don't have 2-dots, but all recent production from Winbond, within the last 3 months, have 2 dots. Prevoius to March there were CH available without 2 dots.

is there any difference in production?
like others voltages or something else or is it just a visiable "issue"?
currently I“m running a burn in @ 200 2-2-2-2-5 @ 3.2v (for 10h now); will flash another bios (last from tictac is optimized, will try hellfire“s rev.2 bios) and run a burn in @ 3.3v with 240mhz.
    will report results here
just to make it clear: I don“t think/claim that computersmsa sell bad modules

This might be some cheap Samsung or Micron IC but it is not Winbond-this is my opinion.I can't see two metal stripes over side of IC-there is four small metal dots(as i see your pic) which means is not Winbond

Ive read many posts about this computermsma and I have not read ANY complain but very good overclocks, so i“d try that ram out first before complaining.

first results from memtest after first burn-in session.
    currently running 2T 10x245 @ 2-2-2-2-11 @ 3.3v (bios). memtest #5
pass 1 and 2 no errors, following every pass 1 error
bios is hellfire“s rev.2, alpha timings not touched.
    seems to be utt
what to do now? I know it“s a little bit old-school oc, but as a student you are limited.

Set CAS to 3. If it boots, it's not BH-5. If it does, try SuperPi 8M, or MemTestx86+. If that fails, it is probably BH-5. My old school BH-5 boots into Windows fine at CAS 3, but when I login, it reboots (or sometimes it just freezes).

EDIT: Oops, thought you were talking about BH-5.

Feed it more volts and if you can do 250 at 2-2-2-5 then it has to be windbond.

    Hi,

I have received UTT BH-5 in first, and I have see two dots ..as typical Winbond chips.
The day after, I have reiceved the UTT CH-5, without two dots ... I have been suprised as you ! But for sure I have order UTT CH-5 0.13µm chip ... and factory order it at Winbond, finally for 99% sure it's UTT CH-5 0.13µm chip.

    Some people make 250+ MHz 1.5-2-2-5 or 2-2-2-5 @ 3.4-3.5V ... only Winbond can.

    Have a nice day/night

Edit : I will answer the factory tomorow (Sales Manager can't help me maybe, wait engineering)

    My UTT BH-5 not boot at CAS3 and can 2-2-2-5 @ 200 MHz @ 2.6-2.8v
My UTT CH-5 can boot at CAS3 and can 2-2-2-5 @ 200 MHz but need 2.9V-3.1V.

    hi computersmsa,
    nice to see you here
    tried something else, 10x240 @ 3.3v @ 2-2-2-2-5 @ 1T (!)
put a noiseblocker 80mm fan in front of the ram and voilĆ” no errors
increased northbridge v up to 1.9v
so I“m really satisfied with your ram.
will try more tomorrow after runnig memtest for 12hours.
