Exclamation Modding Request for Neo2 - mem timings!

There have been a lot of problems arising with the MSI K8N Neo2 when overclocking and using memory dividers. It seems to be mainly due to the tighter Trc and Trfc timings that are used when the dividers are active. The Neo2 doesn't have the options available in the bios to change these timings, and A64tweaker isn't any use if the system won't make it into windows!

Is the anyone that has any idea about how to change the timings that the bios sets and mod the bios accordingly? If we could get the bios to use the same (looser, 1:1 ratio) timings on all dividers then this should solve the problem.

    Can any bios modders help?

EDIT: if anyone would like to take a look at the bios, the latest is v1.8f from here...

Anyone know how to add extra voltage option to v1.8 bios, just like in v136Mod?
Come on, I'm messing with bios tools for hours and didn't accomplish anything. How in the world you add extra options into the bios?!?

Few minutes won't hurt for hardcore, bios modders to compare v136Mod with v1.8 and see what can be done.

I found somethin I didn't know before, extra voltages options in v1.36, v1.37 and v1.41 bioses were already there added there by MSI's bios writers Only v1.36 bios had extra voltages activated

So that means that even the biggest noob could mod v1.36 bios to v1.36mod by using modbin6. Dammit, I thought they knew how to mod things, hex edit codes instead of clicking with modbin6

And for the mem timings, I hope that MSI will add those in the the next BIOS so the DFI w\ nFORCE3 will have a competitor in mean of rich bios settings.

    so they still use Modbin6?

adding new option in bios is impossible right now...
make a request to MSI ... hope they add it... in future bios

Tictac, they ( MSI I mean ) will release soon the BIOS v1,9 with SD & DC support, and they will stop producing new BIOS version...

    just the typical MSI stuff...

ok... can anybody with this board get WPCREDIT screenshot of :

    PCI Bus = 0# ; Device = 24# ; Function = 2#

what kinda trc & trfc value would you like it to be preset when running on divider?

    here you go tictac

In my situation, when I run 1:1 ratio trfc is 14 clocks and trc is 11 clocks, however when I change to 5:6 (166) divider both trfc and trc go lower. When I change to 133 divider trfc and trc are drastically low.

I would like same vaules on all dividers. So same trfc and trc (in my situation 14, 11) on 200, 166, 133 etc.

    THANKS TICTAC

I'd like a trc of 12 and trfc of 15 or 16... anything LOWER than 15 (14 or lower that is lol) results in a crash

OMG how did you do that? I am running 18 R1 BIOS right now, and my GSkill LE is stable at 275Mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T. I was never able to get it stable at 1T, no matter what I tired, TRC13 and TRFC15 seems to do it, I am running SuperPi 32M atm, thank you so much .
Is there any website that teaches how to mod the bios like this? I already did mods with cdbrom and modbin, but this stuff seems to be more difficult. It think I will take a closer look at this bios using a hex editor

Edit: I just finished SuperPi 32M . Could also make a BIOS with Trc 10 and Trfc 12 for me please ?

thanks for the BIOS tictac you know how to mod things
now, if you have time, add your trc & trfc patch (same timings, 13 and 15) to v1.36Mod BIOS link . That will totally kick ass

    ^^ yes!

that would totally pwn . Using 1.36B bios but those timings loosened would be very nice. Having trouble getting my ram over 240mhz with 166 divider atm...

lol. There must be something in the 1.36B bios that isn't in any other bios that allows voltages above 10% to work :/.

    btw: trying 13mod R1 now

edit: Well the results are good with 13mod R1. im gaining memory clocks due to the more relaxed timings
I can run relaxed memory timings without it getting unstable - before anything looser then 2.5-4-3-6 was unstable. now i can run CAS3 fine (which my memory loves and doesn't give a large performance hit either, the extra mhz makes up for it )

Nice bios mod tictac am using it now and i like it

Write to read time (twtr) drops down to 1 with the dividers but 1:1 its 2 any chance that can be added as well. Also any way to sort out the 1t command. I have a san diego 3700+ and it defaults to 2t as your probably aware but is there a way to force it to 1t with a bios mod?

I have a spare bios chip so can do testing if needed.

Thanks for the code, but how do I use it? I compiled it with masm32, but cbrom errors "<file> is not BIOS ROM". What do I have to do to integrate it?

    ya compile it with masm
    install it with cbrom

    1) Method as ISA ROM
    Command:
    cbrom biosname.bin /isa yourpatchfilename.bin

    2) Method as NIC or SATA rom
you need to hack the rom file and inject the new code there

    Good Luck

Well I killed my BIOS . Board just hangs after the NIC rom...Alt+F2 doesnt work to bring up the builtin flasher...looks like i gotta hotflash the board. The only person I know who has the same board just sent it back for RMA, ironic isnt it?
