just look at the die size of that dual core itanium chip... wow... just wow...

the pressler chip looks pretty much as large as a prescott core... interesting...
its made in 65nm so they def have added a lot of logic to it!

its not aircooled afaik, some custom liquid cooling i suppose
but im not sure i held one of those itanium 2s in my own hands at cebit!
and it had a heatsink on it... damn that whole cartridge was heavy!

That Yonah and Smitfield are both dual cores, as well as the Presler Dempsey. But the Yonah and Smitfields has both cores on the same die. Whats the difference? Looking at Dempsey and Presler it seems to have two smaller dies.

noldor, the differenc eis that intel can pick two good clocking cores and make a "dual core cpu" with them putting them on the same package. that improves the yields... currently you have two cpu cores next to each other and if one of the clocks bad then you have to clock the entire dual core cpu lower.

Demsey and Presler are socket 775

The I2 is made to run on air cooling and there are larger racks with AC cooling built into the side. I have not seen a liquid cooled I2 but I think they are out there.

charles, do you know anything about 480 yet? i hope there will be 478 adapters so we can plug a yonah in an asus p4c deluxe or a dfi 925x t2
maybe a 955x with 478 socket? hmmm or why not a 955x board with a 480 socket too low demand though, not worth it for a mobo series i guess... too bad...

New chipsets are ready from several manufactures for the Dothan.

Napa should be ready and in OEMs hands in the next few weeks. I would expect something solid in July.

Don`t know exactly, but I`ve seen some reports that Yonah will be on 478 pin Socket. here is the pic of it in my post attachment

Could be a 90nm prototype made before 65nm was ready.
