I an get to 168 using clockgen in windows and a 15 multi but no higher with a 1.6 400fsb and 1.6v.
glad it's not just me but shame they wont go higher.
What Mobo are you running ? i tested p4p800,p4p800-vm and p4p800-e all with the same results. None of them will allow both multi and fsb to be changed in the bios.
I did see a bios version 1007.001 for p4p800-e that had multi but no vcore in bios cant find it though only 1007.003 does anyone have this bios ?
Hardware.fr p4p800-e bios 1007.001 screen shot with multi options
Hardware.fr ct-479 artical scroll down to p4p800-e section note bios 1007.001

I have 1007.001..sorry to say the multi's don't work.

Tomorrow is the big dayfor me! I'll receive;
Dothan 730
P4P800SE
CT-479
RMAed booster
Uh Happy Day!!!![]()
i am waiting for all
maybe next week...i am ordering them from gemany and it is going to be a little bit long...
Im sorry if I missed this, but didn't see it anywhere in the thread.
If I buy a P4P800-SE will it work with a dothan + adapter right out of the box?
Im wondering if you guys are flashing the boards to get more OC'ing options or to get the dothan to work period. As in do I have to put in a P4 when I first get the board to flash the board to a bios that will make it support the dothan?

On a P4P800SE you'll need 1008 or 1009beta to even boot with the Dothan.Originally Posted by JamesAvery22

Eh doesnt really make be cry since its a 300$ board...For those curious, the AOpen 915GM motherboard allows you to alter the CPU multiplier downwards from the default CPU multiplier, and you can also adjust front side bus frequencies in 1 MHz increments. You can also manually set DDR timings and frequencies (although frequency selection does not appear to work at this time). However, the board does not allow for overvolting the CPU or the DDR memory modules, so it will not be a terrifically great overclocking platform.
This question maybe old but....
I own dothan chips. Is there absolutely no way to change the multiplier without using the windows multi change program?? I want to be able to change it in BIOS and the multi stays where I want. Or do you have to use the windows utility to change it every time when you boot to desktop... because i don't like doing that.![]()
Help?
does anyone know if the CPUMSR multiplier changer works for with the P4C800-E?
If I'm not mistaken, a BIOS change may allow it, but at this time, ASUS AIN'T helping... and noone can figure out how to mod the BIOS to allow itOriginally Posted by IamAnoobieCheez
Oh, it certainly needs to be done or people with 14, 15, 1 multi's will have a tough time vbooting at 200.

Thanx for the reply charlie..Originally Posted by charlie
yea.. i could never get it work either. Would be sweet to get mine to something near 200fsb. I still get great performance even at low fsb and mem so im happyi'll give windows multi utility a try... as i haven't even actually tried one myself.

I think cpumsr will work on any board as it programs the multi in the dothan chip not the boards.Still would be nice to confirm that.

BTW, I flashed my P4P800-DX (non-E) with the 1021.003 P4P800 bios, using Asus Update in Windows, the and was able to boot the board using my 3.2E.
Tomorrow, I will try the Dothan...

Anyone found a HSF that will mount / can be easily modded to mount yet? The supplied one doesn't half look useless.

Stryg,
can you update that information in the thread info?
just playing with my new ct-479 and p4c800....
and now I can see that you can't just use a normal p4 hs/f with modded clips or longer screws because of the ct-479's fsb jumpers and 4-pin connector on the pcb.
If you have access to a machine shop, you could mod a certain shape p4 hs/f to clear these, kinda' like the asus stock hs/f is built.

easier to just mod the adapterIf you have access to a machine shop, you could mod a certain shape p4 hs/f to clear these, kinda' like the asus stock hs/f is built.![]()
yeah, good point.
I also think that the xp90 may be adaptable... will have to get my mitts on one. (the si-97 looks usable too)
