    Dothan/chilly1container/ln2

Had my first ln2 benching session today. Overall it went pretty well. 10L lasted me about 3hrs with extras left over.
    pics:
$20.00 for 10 litres of ln2 and $100.00 deposit on cc for the dewar.

    setup:
    chilly1 DI/ln2 container
    p4p800se / ct-479 / pent M 760
    hyperx 3200bh-5/ ocz booster/ OCZ 600watt psu

Not the prettiest mount, but it works I'm working on a custom test bed with an arc/press over the mobo/chip just like the japs use soon. IMO, that is the best setup for ln2. No need for hold-downs and very easy to setup. The container will be machined out of a solid 3in x 9in copper block.

Didnt get too much icier than this really until I went below -150c or so. I think the fans and ariflow over the the top half of the board helped. If I let the temps rise to around -100c under load, any ice that formed would slowly go away.

    and some benches:

Overall I was happy with the results and chillys container worked great with 1/2 inch closed cell. Nothing boiled over ever and I inuslated socket area good enough to bench for 2-3 hrs straight. To prep mobo, I taped up all peripheral slots and connectors and sprayed front and back of mobo with clear laquer spray.
These runs were to get a feel for the cooling power of ln2 and to develop the "touch" with pouring/maintaining cetain temps. Either this chip or the mobo didnt like anything lower than -165c or so. When I got to -180c on the base of the container, the rig just shutoff and wouldnt come back on until the base temps got up to -150c. This behavior repeated itself everytime it got too cold(below -165c). Didn't matter what vcore.
I have a better clocking 760 here along with a fully modded p4c800-e which should get me into the 21's for 1mpi at these clocks and maybe 33.9* or better for pifast. With better clocks on my other dothan chip who knows.... Next round on friday, can't wait . I'm so hooked on ln2.

Are you using CO2 to ward off condensation, or just the lacquer spray? I'd like to see how well you do with the other 760.

Nope. Just sprayed it pretty good with the laquer spray. It didnt get too icy until temps got lower than -165c
This chip maxed out at 3.15ghz on DI so 250 mhz gain going from -68c to -168c, which is the temp that those benches were run at.

I see. Well, keep us posted with your next run. I'd like to see you do better than this.

thanx guys...I figured if I could make it through my first ln2 session without killing any hardware, it would be a sucess.
The only thing that started to wear on me towards the end of the session, was having to pick up the dewar to pour into the buffer container. That is where I was thinking something with a delivery system on it would be much nicer.
Just put thermos under spout and turn the valve
    Like this...kinda pricey though:

Or how about this dream with the automated delivery and monitoring software in windows $$$$$:

I have a some more pics in my camera with the system running and the mobo and container a little frosty I will upload later, but I didnt go crazy with the camera cuz I was too focused on benching and pouring. Next session, I was thinking of having a friend take some vid clips of the runs and maybe some fun freezing and smashing computer stuff afterwards

very nice k|ngp|n. Lookin on runnin LN2 within the next few weeks myself. How do you transfer it from the large container to the tube?

  22. #22
I pick up the dewar and pour it into either the styrofoam cup or the thermos. Then pour into the cpu container using that. A bit tougher to do by yourself....just make sure you secure the cup/thermos before pouring into it. You can see in the pic I used a box with cutouts to hold my buffer containers(styro cup and thermos).

1st 3d session w/ln2 on dothan went pretty well.
I ran the chip at 254x13(this chip is capable of 3d'ing at 262x13 or more tho)
Used modded chilly1 gpu container + DI for x850xtpe agp card.

    Almost 8700 points in 05'.

Cpu at 3400mhz+ and x850 on ln2 is next . Gonna shoot for breaking OPP's #1 spot with ati card for 3dmark 05'. Ln2 on the card along with 50-60mhz core clocks should do it.
I did manage to get #1 spot with single ATI card in AM3 though.
At 262-265x13 with higher card clocks, #1 overall may be possible.
    18k+ cpu score.... lol

Look at the dothan sitting pretty in sli land.

Benching resumes tommorrow on 05', am3, and 03'.
01' wont be until this weekend prolly.

Wow k|ngp|n, good stuff! lol, and I was happy with my 106k sitting in SLI land. It looks like '05 is about to take a beating.

Just curious, what did DI on the X850 gain you over phase? Or have you done that compare? Something I've tossed around doing myself, but also thinking something with more capacity than a stock MachI on the gfx might be all I do. Gotta start working on a x2 gfx solution soon enough anyway.
.........current project, make the 135i faster
