Seriously, I've been looking for a viable replacement for the chipset fan on my Ultra-D, so this thread is great. The stock cooler isn't bad as they go, but the NF4 just runs hot as hell and that inevitable whining noise really brings out my OCD. I don't want to add any more restriction to my cooling loop (Eheim 1250 driving a TDX, Maze4 GPU, and a 2-199 already), but thanks to the layout I've got virtually no options for an aftermarket hsf cooler.
That Iceberq really didn't work out, eh?

the iceberq didnt work well at all but i think the iceberq4 will do alot better. does everyone that has high chipset temps have a huge video card cooler that blocks the airflow or pushes hot air at the chipset cooler? I ask this because that is why my temps are so high. I installed a zalman vf700cu on my video card and my chipset temps dropped about 7-8C.

I had to dremel here to clear the crystal. Otherwise, the hsf wouldn't make full contact with the chipset.
what r u guys using? ASC5 or AS paste? I have both, I'm assuming the paste would be better for long term so I dont have to keep re applying ASC5... I wanna apply some before I even start to oc

I use AS5. It's thick enough that it sticks the hsf to the chipset relatively well. BTW, what AS paste?Originally Posted by Seriola
AS paste comes with their HSFs... its silicone compound paste, not sure if it even compares to the AS5... but they say to apply it for their HSF

Oh, ok. It doesn't even come close to AS5, but it is better than nothing Use AS5 if you've got it, but if you don't then that stuff will do. Oh, btw, I'm pretty sure that's Arctic Allumina - their value stuffOriginally Posted by Seriola
Weird, I had no problems fitting the Iceberq to mine although it is a tight fit when pushing the pins in, you must make sure they are in the inner recess of the mounting holes. I've got no regrets about using the Iceberq here.Originally Posted by babalouj

is the center just hacked out? or is there more modification than that.
Anymore water blocks for that DFI nF4 chipset besides the one in Germany?
Mine is running dang hot!! 45C @ Tambient 20C, at idle (close case).
A new chipset fan cooler and HS is no option for me with 2 6800 Ultras exhausting hot air over it.

How much did you have to dremel? Could it maybe be done with a metal file?

I don't like noise very much, so I did something similar to this:
Chipset temps are ~41C idle
P.S. One side of my case is always opened
...
Anyone find any other chipset waterblocks that will work with this board? Perhaps one with 1/2" fittings? I really don't feel like downsizing my tubing for the one that someone listed here.

Any other ready-made sinks that would still fit dual graphics cards (both with big coolers)?
The Zalman NB47J mod doesn't work with big coolers (I've tried) and with dual long PCI-E cards.
Iceberq and the stock DFI fans both whine annoyingly.
Any other options?
Hey thats mine! You'll get a huge temp drop with some decent airflow, mine idles around 30 degrees.Originally Posted by kiwi
