    Cas 1.0? Which chips?

What type of chips can do Cas 1.0?
I Know BH-5 can do it, but how much voltage needs?

Recently i got it a pair 2x256MB Geil Ultra Plat. PC3500 and with cas 1.0 over 200 Mhz works very well at 2.65V. I choose cas 1.0 with A64 Tweaker. Nevertheless, this memories can boot with cas 3.0, then are not BH-5.

Anybody knows what chip can be?

    My system is:
    A64 Winchester 3000+, MSI Neo2, PC3500 Geil Ultra Platinum

    Thanks!

It could be Bh5. Just becuase it boots at 3.0cas does not mean its not. Dont know of any other chip doing cas 1 besides Bh6 i guess.

Mmmmmm......no, BH-6 as far as i know dont work even with cas 2.5.

I want to add, this memories are Geil Ultra Platinum PC3500 rated as 2-3-3-6, because there is another version rated as 2.5-3-3-7.

My bh-6 would boot at 2.5cas but it wouldn't help it clock any more. In fact it made it a little more unstable. I never tried 3.0cas on it.

I did try 3.0 on my bh-5 just to see if it would boot, because everyone said bh-5 couldn't boot at 3.0cas and they were right -- it did not boot.

1: BH-x will not work at CAS3 unless your motherboards bios is "loose"
2: Changing CAS latency within A64 tweaker does not result in the value actually changing.

Well, i used cas 3 with A64 Tweaker, and...system freeze. Strange, because i selected cas 3.0 in bios and boots fine.

Then, if i set cas 1.0 or 1.5 in A64 Tweaker in reallity i follow with cas 2.0 for example?

Possibly these memories are Mosel Vitelic 5ns

If you booted at CAS 2.0, you will stay at CAS 2.0. There is no software that can adjust CAS latency.

i'd update to a newer version of cpu-z that supports displaying cas1.5 and cas1. i've seen a64tweaker show cas1.0, and really have the timing be 1.5

either way, cas1.5 is amazing with 2.65v, congrats man

edit: stevil, when i change from cas2.5 to cas3 with a64tweaker, my latency goes up a little bit and bandwidth drops. i think it's working.

ummmmm im pretty sure both a64 tweaker and cpu brain can change CAS latency. are you sure you dont mean 1T and 2T cant be changed?

Really? Because I can go back and forth between CAS 1.5 and CAS 2 with A64 tweaker .6 beta.

thats exactly what my new twinmos speedprem. PC3500 and my old style Bh-5 Kingston 2x256 act like!so tight timings are more stable with such memory

    Well said..
I was hoping this would have ended the silly argument.

After you change it to CAS3 in A64 Tweaker, do other utilities like Sandra report the change... doubt it. As STEvil already said, although you may be able to select the option in the BIOS, in reality it may be implementing a safer value. Yes, it is true. And it is not just done for CAS.

As for CAS3 on BH5... I suppose there is nothing I can really do to convince you it cant boot with CAS3. My own personal experience with BH5 is limited to Corsair, Mushkin, OCZ and Kingston, and CH5 with Kingston...
Its enough to convince me, but I dunno about you.

Have you tried taking the heatspreader off. What does it say. Maybe you can post a photo here.

Nope. At least, neither of my two sticks can do it, even at 100mhz.

If he's only giving the RAM 2.65v then it won't give you 2-2-2-x it'd be something like 2-3-3-x or something along those lines.

lots of bh-5 and some bh-6 will run 2-2-2-x at 2.65v. They dont seem to mind cas 1.5 either.

    Both my OCZ bh-5 and bh6 can do 2-2-2-5 @ 2.6v.

I don't own the bh6 anymore, so I can't really talk about them. They didn't boot with cas 3.0

But my bh-5 can boot with cas 3 on my DFI SLI-DR.Never tested further, but they are in fact bh-5 (277 2-2-2-5 @ 3.7v).

Maybe when my SanDiego gets here I'll be able to test them a little bit better.

    I was thinking UTT

But you might want to try out some more volts and see what happens
