Wow...just...WOW. I can't believe Intel did this. Oh, and the new Intel 955X chipset board has OCing options built in. Adjustable VID (up to 1.5V) and FSB (given in % OC), mutli adjustments...wow. Intel just became my hero...no more ES chips for me I guess.

It's Pentium XE 840, and it's coming soon, sometime in the summer, June or July I guess.
Then Intel is Lying, they said Q2-05, that's this quarter.

but that 14x is sure a pity.. that's why 2.8ghz and 3.73 prescotts don't
have EIST (they're already ad 14x) and that's why 840 ee don't have 1066 fsb (3.73ghz minimum is required for that).
though higher mult still helps to keep those lower mem latencies..
yes but i would rather some very nice bandwidth then lower latencys, especially if the latencys wont be effected that much.
They said that they'll launch the CPU Q2-05, and they did, but mass production, well, it will take a while. Not to mention the chipsets and motherboards based on those chipsets.
As for the bandwidth and latency, no need to worry, there's enough bandwidth for two cores.
i wonder if the mobos that support these will use ddr2 exclusively or will there be some ddr1 based ones also.

I did read somewhere that these chipsets can support DDR1 and 2 just as the i915 and 925s *can, the builders have those options. Some 915s have DDR and DDR2 on them. (2 slots each)

1000euros = 1300 dollars so do the math, thats about 1900 DOLLARS for one of those chips
I don't know about you guys but thats an AWFULL lot for a chip thats mostly likly gonna get his butt handed to him by a chip made by AMD which costs like 1/10 th of it's price and clocks way better and colder
I'm not an AMD FANBOY (well maybe a bit because I really have good experiences with AMD) but those prices are outragius

Link? That would be almost 1900 US$. NEVERThe 840 will be far not the most powerful 8xx processor. There are 3.4 Ghz and 3.6 Ghz coming, by the way. How do you think they are? 3000 Euro?
Intel said that they would cost $999 USD. All past EEs have retailed at this so why change now?
This chip is shipping in Velocity Micro's new PC, its is clocked at 4GHz under water! Thats pretty damn cool to have a dual core 4GHz.
