Your choice of Zippy is the best option I think, but I'm a bit bias*looks at sig *.

Unless you are going to get a DFI LP UT nF4 and run BH-5 or UTT based memory on the 5v setting;since there's compatibility issues between the DFI nF4 and Zippy on the 5v setting for the memory.

Otherwize your choice is a no brainer. GO for it !

With the DFI NF4 you should run a 24 pin. OCZ Modstream 520 perhaps?

Well 24-pin takes a few PSUs out of the equation.

    Is the Zippy 24-pin?

For around $120 I would try and spend a little more, the Powerstream 520W is $143 over here, or if that is simply too much then the Powerstream 420W is only $104.... it still has 24-pin ATX and a nice 30A on the +12V rail

Go with the fortron 550W or the Zippy 460W/500W.....Best money can buy... Also the 24pin would still work on a 20pin mb header without an extension, it's just that 4pin will overhang which is no biggie........

Between the 2 I listed i would choose the fortron because it's more solid........

How about a Fortron Blue Storm 500w? It's got dual 12v rails and 24-pin connector for an extremely low price.

ALL Zippy /Emac are native 24 pin since they are made for servers.

A 24 pin to 20 pin adapter must be purchased for motherboards with a native 20 pin.

    You need this or this

Im sure these models will pump more than what they're rated for and you still have some penny left from you're pocket.........

I had 400W fortron that gave me better clocks compare to my 460W zippy.......

Huh...Fotron are great units but Zippy is made for the demanding server market. Zippy units often run 24/7 for over 10 years .

In StarvationPlan case since you plan to run UTT or BH-5 on a DFi nF4 then the Fortron or Super Flower might be the better choice due to DFI/Zippy 5v bug.

The only issue I see with Fortrons are there weak 12v amps but the FSP550-60PLG *PDF file* model has 36 amp on 12v.

My 460 Zippy has 32 amps on the 12v

FYI:both Fortrons and Zippy have internal pots

You guys are gonna think I'm nuts, but how about $43 revised Allied 450W with 24-pin (20-pin + detachable 4-pin), one SATA connector and pots to adjust voltages hidden inside?
Very nice, solid, dependable and cheap PSU...

The fortrons are more flexible in pot adjustments.....I could raise the 12V-12.90V/5V-5.40V/3.3V-3.40V(this rail is a little weak) compare to my zippy I could only raise the 12V-12.20V/5V-5.22V/3.3V-3.50V+ without any extensive mods to the unit but the psu thus far has the most stable rails i've seen.....Must be the active PFC...When i load my rig the 5V rail jumps up to .05V instead of fluctuating.... But then again both i mention are very solid. Just the mods for the zippy i a little tricky compare to the fortron than only need OVP adjustments....

    Yes you are nuts jk.

Kidding aside the Allied units are a gamble like most low end ones.

Some Allied user report them as being great and some get terrible units that droop badly on most rails,it's a roll of the dice to get a good one.
I would only buy such a low end unit at a retailer with an excellent return policy.

Allied got a nice 500w unit,I think Eva posted on it.Let me find the thread to it .

    Well, hear my story...

Total, I have 3 x Allied 450W for my folding farm... First two are 20-pin and third I ordered was a surprise, because Newegg's site is neither saying anything about "new 24-pin revision" nor pics are updated. The two I got first, have a record of 35 days 24/7 100% LOAD on XP-M @ 2600MHz 2.00vcore... Pretty impressive for $40 PSU. Then I shut them down due to some cleaning and general rig maintenence.
The new one is really nice... That 24-pin ATX connector is just sweet (like OCZ PSU's also have same idea of detachable 4-pin). So far it has been powering up another XP-M rig @ 2.5GHz 1.9vcore 24/7 100% LAOD for a week. It works on Neo2 with a DDR Booster with no problem whatsoever. I haven't had a chance to hook it up to my DFI NF4 as it runs on PCP&C 510W and I'm just too lazy to switch and see how it goes

I'd say, that for non-SLI rigs this PSU would be absolutely enough.

Sparkle FSP 400W 60THN vs. Zippy HP2-6460P 460W in an closed case scenario....The Fortron was a little stable due to the fact that it has that 120mm fan that exhaust the hot air from my cpu other than that the zippy has more juice in an open case for xtreme clocks........

This unit has a 460watts rating the 500 watts is at peak load.

It is not a true 500watts,that's deceptive product labeling on Fortron's part; marketting a 460watt unit as a 500 to rip off consumers that dont know better.

Your experience with Allied sounds good, but I've looked inside*older* Allied PSUs and I'd much rather trust a Fortron over them for the similar $,mind you I haven't seen one of Allied's recent products.

I know, what you mean... I still think that Fortron 530W is one of the nicest, best performing PSUs. I have two of those here... Although, no 24-pin for those that care

I was just trying to point out couple VERY cheap and depoendable options for budget-minded folks around here

    There ya go,lol it's a Sparkle built by Fortron(same model no#)native 24 pin ,woohoo :

    Sparkle FSP550-60PLG

BTW: most Fortrons split the 12v amp between two seperate lines feed, like in the case of the FSP550-60PLN it's 18amps + 18amp +36 total. But the FSP550-60PLG single feed/shared of 36 amps sounds better to me.

    I would also consider the Enermax EG465AX-VE(FMA), 460W, 24-pin and 33A on 12V.

well i didnt really read the whole thread about this but off tiger direct you can get a x-connect for less than 100bux and if you find the rite deal they will ship you a free dragon case with it.

    This is the 400w xconnect
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...221042&CatId=0

My buddy bought the 500w one for about 100bux including a silver glossy case that he gave me.

you can also just buy the psu.

I think those psu's are totaly worth the price and are very good psu's as well.
