    new DFI NF4 beta bios

Been testing this one a few days, it helps with VX and BH5 etc as the bios addresses some drive strength issues we found.

Grab the bios here this is the 3.25.

Please don't hammer my FTP...spread the love and help hosting Read down, a few guys are hosting the file also now.

I posted this on DFI- Street and the OCZ forum, take note of it, with this bios it matters.

In bios you have 2 options for drive strength, first off im going to address Dram Drive strength options Auto to 8.

If you leave the option at Auto this will set a weak drive strength, this is good for TCCD based modules but bad for anything else. From testing and debugging the board i have concluded the following.

Options 1 3 5 7 are all weak, as is Auto, setting 1 is actually the weakest option with 7 being as close to the normal weak setting DFI will allow us.

Options 2 4 6 8 are the Normal settings, with 8 being the highest strength setting.

If you are using TCCD you may want to try 3 5 or 7 as the drive settings as they usually seem to allow the modules to clock well.

If you are using VX, or the new BH Gold, or any other modules from the OCZ range you may want to try 8 or 6.

Im waiting for confirmation from DFI on this info, from my testing this does seem pretty accurate.

I also found with TCCD clocking you may want to try Dram data drive strength on 2 this again helped the TCCD hit some high clocks.

The bios helps with Hynix, Winbond , Infineon, Mosel etc etc, as all these needed a high drive strength.

The board was pretty much tuned with TCCD in mind, changes were made before the boards were released to sale as i had suggested to DFI the board while fast with TCCD were not as good as they could be with hynix or BH5 etc...this bios is a start at addressing the weak drive and does help.

I have been running this bios for 3 days now its safe, it is however different to the others some what in how you have to set the board up while overclocking.

And I thought I had it figured I'll give it a try in the near future.
In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

as long as you set the 5V jumper it works all the way up on every setting and adds a small amount of extra vdimm.

I am a firm beleiver in testing something before release, i was the one who asked for changes and i have used the OCZ support team to test the bios to see if it helped.

If this bios had been a cpu killer etc its much better for it to kill my hardware than yours

Im now looking for feedback here to see what you guys find, I found the bios clocks better with less vdimm. It may not clock the cpu quite as high in some cases but the ram for me was more stable.

You have to remember this is a new breed of board that brings ram overclocking to the masses in a big way...i have to try and get this aspect of the board doing as well as it can....its a fine balance and we are closer to the midpoint now with this build.
