3) The 940-socket processor variants have pins set aside for 3 HT links to the outside world. Only server versions have them wired up (2 and 3 link versions), "desktop" CPU version doesn't. They have fewer signals brought out from the memory controller. (compared to 939 socket CPUs)
AH, thanks. this is what i misunderstood. so the HTT link DOES interfere with the opterons a bit, but i totally did not get it right. LoL.

8cpu's seems like a wiring nightmare..how many chipsets for them...4? or 2? I saw the IWILL with the add-on board, but nnot enough to even see what was really going on besides the 4 cpus on the other board.

we will know when they are out when the bios updates for rev E cpu's come out...
