Didn't know if anyone would be interested in getting one of these, since Venice is about to drop, but I thought I'd share with everyone anyway.![]()
I found a local store in Castleton, Indiana called Computer Renaissance (317-842-2000) that had 3 of the 3000+ Winchesters with the 0449 MPM coding in stock for $199.00 each. This was two days ago, but they don't look like they move stock very quickly with local buyers - maybe due to price?
Looking through XS threads, it appears these may be good to stellar overclockers - do your own research and see what you think of the OC results others have gotten with this chip. Week code of 0449 is nice and "M" appears to mean re-speed binned parts - don't completely understand this, but maybe higher speed capable parts marked as lower speed units?
I purchased a 3000+ 0448 SPMW from them about 10 days ago. I'm still getting parts together for my new rig, so I won't know what the chip will do for a while, but these look like good chips from what I've read here - so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Just ordered two 1 gig kits of TwinMos PC3200 ram last knight from Newegg, hoping to get some good UTT ram. If Venice pans out to work with 4 sticks well, then I can upgrade at some point and have the ram ready.
I've read many posts about guys not finding any of the "good" weeks anymore. We don't know yet whether or not Venice will be more closely speed binned by AMD. If they are, the OC's on the lower end 3000+ and 3200+ may not be what we hope - or maybe they will be.
Anyway - thought I'd share the store and phone number - Good Luck!
