Which Sempron? The 130nm one or the 90nm ones?

there's more than one for the 754? i guess both so long as it is noted which process

yeah, there's 90nm 2600, 2800, 3000, and 3100 models. And 130nm 3100 model

I was pretty happy with mine, it ran nearly as fast the 3200+ I replaced it with (The Sempy went 2.5+ and the 3200+ runs 2.6 with a Zally7000ALCU)
I sent it to a friend to review along with the DFI LP and Crucial Ballistic PC3200 to test against his clawhammer 3400DTR (1mb cache)
Surprisingly, when both were set to 1.8GHZ the Sem:banana::banana::banana::banana: wins almost every bench.
any estamites on how high they should reach?
tha's a gr8 overclock man, good job
how did you o/c it? what type of ram? 3200? what is ur htt?

They OC pretty much like any other Newcastle core, a few lucky ones with realy good cooling can reach in the 2.7GHZ range, but average is in the 2.4-2.6GHZ range.Originally Posted by i found nemo
I used Crucial Ballistix PC3200 at CAS 3-3-3-10 for up to 275FSB and 3-4-4-10 up to 300FSB, after that it would crap out.
I used something like 1.75v core, 1.7v NB 2.9v Mem, and 3X for LDT and a Oscar Bios.
Oh, and the Sempron 2600+ someone mentioned is not socket 754, they shouldn't be compared here.
Yes, it's 754. There are 2600+, 2800+, 3000+ and 3100+ S754 Semprons based on the Winchester 90nm core, but with disabled L2 cache. Those seem to be the best deals at the moment. I'm tempted to buy one, but I also need a fairly overclockable mobo.Originally Posted by $SOLID$ Necro

Here you go
I do remember seeing they were going to be coming out down the road a bit.
I didn't think they were shipping yet, has someone here tested one yet?
Nice to see the review though, tanks dude![]()
go for one with 256k cache as theres some 128k versions floating about, 2.5ghz should be a reasonable estimate on mid - high air cooling, there quite good chips these semp's, a friend compared one to an AXP and clock for clock the sempron usually won
Opty 144 0546FPMW @ 2.8ghz
MSI K8N Neo 2
2 x 512mb OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 TCCD
ATI X800 Pro @ 570/1200
Plus some other metal fings...
Will do me till Conroe

Just built the Sempron 2600+ for a family member - at stock vcore it went from 1.6 to 1.8 without a problem - prime and Super PI stable. Any higher and it would randomly reboot. Used G.Skill 2 x 256 LA kit. I wanted to be sure it was 100% so I left it at 1.8Ghz, after reading the Xbitlabs review I was expecting more, but the machine was fast and wasn't half bad for an $80 CPU with cooler.
i7-2600k @ 4.8Ghz 1.38v L044A892
ASUS P8P67 LGA
16GB G.Skill Rip Jaws DDR3 1600Mhz Memory

Cooler Master UCP 1100 Watt PSU
GTX 680 1300/7000
Lian Li PC V-2000
What Motherbaords are you using with these 90nm Semprons? My Chaintech VNF3-250 is NOT cooperating with my new 2600+ Sempron. For some reason I cant change the CPU Voltage! The options inst even there for some reason... (10/19 Bios... So it should be)
Anyway, Pretty dismal results so far.. Only Stable to 1.76Ghz (From 1.6) Stock Voltage.... Gonna play some more tonight to see whats up, try some different Bios'..... Ordered a DFI UT and a Arctic Freezer though just in case....
good to see i get some reuslts, i'm gunna order out the parts for my new computer tomorrow asap i get it i'm postin' it here

I just got a 2600 w/128k cache and it runs fine if it's not for the fact that only half of my RAM is recognized....Originally Posted by Impaqt
Anyway you have to use the 07-29 bios to get voltage adjustment. I'm running 300FSB with RAM at 400Mhz without breaking a sweat. Good deal to get my VNF3-250 to stop collecting dust as a paperweight :-)
got any screenies nano?
