    G70 next nvidea gpu?

    ok in the latest leaked nvidia drivers (75.90) there was a strange input in the dll

    NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0090.1 = "NVIDIA G70"
    NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0091.1 = "NVIDIA G70 "
    NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0092.1 = "NVIDIA G70 "
    NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0093.1 = "NVIDIA G70 "
    NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0094.1 = "NVIDIA G70 "
    NVIDIA_G70.DEV_009D.1 = "NVIDIA G70GL"
    NVIDIA_G70.DEV_009E.1 = "NVIDIA G70GL "

    this is the codename for nvidia's next gen gpu and it will be based on a whole new architecture. just seems a bit wierd why nvidia put this in these drivers.
    very interesting anyway!

    Didnt see this anywhere else ....

    note. shamelessly stolen from someone else

    Interesting or weird in any case!
    In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

    and to think how tight lipped nvidia has been while we have been given hints by ati. If the nv48 and nv50 were cancelled, could this be the nv70? I did think nvidia was gonna rely on their sli to compete but even that may not be enough now so they need two nv70s to crush one r520

    How did you arrive at the startling conclusion that the G70 is the nv70 which you will need two of to beat one r520 when to the best of my knowlage we dont have exact data on the r520 and all we know about the G70 is that its in a driver

    G70... interesting.

    i was almost wondering if (a few years down the road), if there would be a geforce 9800. i suppose if they are taking a different naming route now, then my question is answered.

    G70, G80, sounds like a mobile phone, more then a graphics card...

    and i wonder why it's G70, as opposed to G78, as the top nvidia card has usually carried an 8... (except for that one time... where they screwed up ).

    Man, that was the funniest line I've seen in a while.

    Anyway, I look forward to reading more information, as it becomes available, on both the ATi and nVIDIA offerings. The next few months should be very exciting.

    I can hear it now, "Can I upgrade my G5 to a G70? Will it make Word faster, and enable a rich multi-media experiance?"

    i dont know about this... i think its marketing... nvidia did it before with nv47 wich appeared in inf files and then dissappeared and nobody ever heard of it again

    ati will release a new card soon and nvidia knows it, so they probably did this to calm the nvidia fans down and make them think nvidia will have a new card ready soon as well, so they dont buy that new ati card...

    I was enticed to be the first person to post the G70 discovery two days ago but the lack of info hindered me. And including the fact that the Nv48 is still on those drivers as well.

    Oh and Rancid Elephant, where the heck have you been man, u joined up when the X800s were coming out then left abruptly ???? lol 132 posts in 2 years :O !!!!

    Yup, cus the tri-slot cooling solution will make it a little bit bigger than the Prius, meaning it comes under FDA regulations LOL

    Yeah pretty weird name huh.

    Yup and by the time it reaches 5.1k your notebook will double as a food warmer that gets rids of trans fats automatically LOL. No way something that needs dual slot cooling is gonna perform any good in 1 inch of space lol.

    This is so funny, I'd like to see ATi try an X850 mobile...."The World's first Vacuum-Cleaner Notebook integated with Dustbuster technology !!!!" ROFL

    You can always upgrade to a 3400+ or 3700+ later so its not so bad. Though if the cost was an issue, an AS8+775 combo may end up costing less than most 939 configs, especially the ones with nf4/55/sli

    G70 = GeForce 7 (?)

    Getting kinda tired of all the super highend videocards, to expensive and you can't find them for the MSRP before next generation of cards are paper-launched. Long live cards like 6600GT!
