Anyone Used The Zalman VF700-Cu VGA Cooler??

Just wanted to know if anyone has used this cooler & what the results are...

thinking about buying one of these as they look really cool but would like some more info on this GPU cooler...

How does it compare to the AC VGA Silencer X800 series??

    Zalman VF700-CU

I'm gonna give it a shot within a few days but is anyone else here has had one please let me know how it fares against the competition...

    Cheers,

Couldnt get Any better than the ATi Silencer, the Zalman, is pretty much a downgrade as the fan is slow.

    Gathered or tested?
I have the Zalman VF700-CU cooler installed on my X850XT right now.
At stock speeds, temps are 26° idle and 48° load, after a couple of 3d01 runs.
I have no idea if this is really good, as I just installed rivatuner, to measure gpu temps.
Will try tomorrow with card oc'ed at 610 gpu, and see what temps it gives then.
The fan is very quiet too (can have it run at 5 or 12V), installation is very easy.

I haven't been able to read a review where they pit the Zalman against the Silencer... Wonder why

    Is it that bad??

Looks the goods but maybe it ain't so...

What if I replaced the 80mm onboard fan with a high cfm one??

    Would that be do-able??

Its easy on their cpu heatsinks, i dunno if you could do it with these. Probably would work.

It performs very well actually, supposedly better than the Silencer 4. I've had it installed on an X800XT...temps never went above 40c under load.

if the fans too slow just mod it to run off the 12 volt line.
red to yellow, black to black. solder it to a female molex, or a barrier box with no soldering needed, but a femail molex still needed.

I found the NV5 too slow, so this is what I did to make it more aggressive for cooling.
the same could be done with this Zalman thing.

I'd pick this Zalman anyday over what I saw from the artic silencer, I wasn't impressed with it... more like satisfied with it, cause it was the only option I had.

"The command and conquer model," said the EA CEO, "doesn't work. If you think you're going to buy a developer and put your name on the label... you're making a profound mistake."

got it as well, really nice cooler, not even loud at 12V
only one problem, they say it's compatible with the ati X... range, but it isn't that compatible with the X600 from Sapphire, I had to twist and turn the cooler till it fitted (still thoughes the caps and bents some coolingfins)

I've it @ 12V (without noise) on my Shappire X800XT. I'm getting 20ºC less than the stock cooler @ full load.

For all it's worth, please try not to compare an aftermarket cooler with a stock cooler like some sites have done....

That's not really informative at all... You should be comparing it against the competition as well... It's not like the VGA Silencer/CoolerMaster/Thermaltake hasn't been released...

My mate's gonna pick one of these babies up & I'll see how it fares against the VGA silencer.... 2 exact same cards... Just a wee bit diff in volts...

If anyone knows of a site where they've pitted the Zalman against something other than the stock cooler, I'm all eyes....

BTW.... HOORAY , my main rig is back up & running again without it playing havok... Looks at 2 Vapochill's sitting in corner gathering dust...

Kunaak, when you say you did the mod for 12v for the fan, you meant for the nVidia cards right? Reason I'm asking is because I can just use ATItool to run the fans at 100%....

Not sure if it's at 12v though... Highly doubt it... Gotta give that mod a shot when I have a bit more time on my hands...

Between work, kids & getting these darn rigs stable, I don't really have time for much tinkering with my rigs...
    Cheers,
    Minh

I am very impressed with it as well. It shaved 15-20c off my load temp from the stock cooler on my x850 xt PE. It also lets you get some ram sinks on and get air going to the memory.

That seems a little high compared to others I have seen. That is what my Ultra idles at with the stock cooler. What is your ambient?
