    Unknown card and 40 000 in -01

    http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=68684

The processor is the forthcoming EE from intel overclocked quite high (4.3ghz+), with 4 gig of DDR2 running at 800mhz and a video card from....well ........
Video card@stock clocks. No idea if he's telling the truth though.
Would an OC'd X850XT PE and that Intel@4.3 GHz score that high?

certainly possible Driverheaven and ATI have a fairly cozy relationship.

    hmmm 4.3EE powaa = about 2.8 - 2.9 FX?

EDIT: "yes im sure he did on phase, but I doubt he beat it on air cooling without overclocking the video card at all."

i deciper that as stock cooling, stock clocks on GPU

well if it is an R520, i'm unimpressed even if it is at stock, especially with that EE at 4.3ghz and some DDR2 800, if the rumoured clock speeds were right 40k is a little low if u ask me, i mean apparantly its 1.8ghz mem, surely it should be getting much more especially as we all know how much ATi cards love 01

    just my 2p

edit: a 4.3ghz EE must kick out some heat, i doubt he did it on that gigabyte cooler shown in the pic

    here's shamino's run

    36280
    4.578 EE (327fsb)
    772/696 XTPE clocks
    bh-5 (speed not stated)

the R520 core is supposed to me 700mhz right? so this already has a faster core. and its 200mhz away on the mem. so if the extra 72mhz on the core and the 278mhz extra on proc were to offset this a bit i would say the 40k score seems about right

Its ps3.0 now which could mean better perf in 05 which makes sense to me.

Cause I have only requisite for the R520 to be THE successor to the R4xx series of cards:

10k in 05 stock or with max of 5% oc.

Anything more required to get that 10k and the price drop on previous gen cards will justify an X850 purchase.

    EDIT:
    (speed not stated)
Buffalo, I think we can assume 327fsb at cl 2.5 for the run...knowing shamino that is

No, the R520 has been in development BEFORE the R420 even came out late 2003ish.

Though knowing that the NV51 or whatever is in development for the PS3 and will be natively SLi capable, the R520's reign will last only until early 2006.

well looks like the upcoming weekend should be fun for macci et al. Assuming this IS an r520, it will be released this weekend meaning they will get to try it!

    40k from a Prescott isn't bad either.

Wish he would run some 3d03 or 05 benches, then we could tell just how powerful the card REALLY is. Or more accurately than 2k1 anyway.

To bad it wont be in stock for under $500 in the next 4 month...
Nothing will make the price come down unless Nvidia steps up.

Too bad most of us can't even afford the current price gouged, retail high end stuff. X850XT PE in retail form aren't even close to being massively distributed. These are troubling times for regular consumers.

Yeah the cheapest XT PE on newegg is like 700+ which sucks pretty bad cos the R520 will debut at $699.

Ok we have some clues here:

"FYI: I know that I know but i'm just not telling you'll just have to wait and see
you will find out when ever ATI gives the green to do so! But it should be pretty self evident"

my comments: He spilled out the word "ATI" so id assume it has something to do with an ATI gpu.

"Hmmm I'm more intresting to see Futuremark 03 or 05, as 3D mark 2001 is quite cpu bound." and he replied "and im also not meant to be posting information on the card(s) yet."

my comments: running 2003 or 2005 would isolate the gpu from the cpu and violate NDA, but 2001 is so cpu intensive, you can skirt around NDA cause the gpu will only help in nature.

"yes im sure he did on phase, but I doubt he beat it on air cooling without overclocking the video card(s) at all."

my comments: Ok so we established the mystery card(ATI most likley) was stock and the p4ee powering it was a cherrypicked gem that did 4.3GHz air cooled.

    big clue: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8426669

4.7GHz of p4ee and 770/688 gpu clocks for 36469 vs. 4.3GHz p4ee and mystery gpu at stock(!) for 40145, this is nearly 3.7k higher. It is highly unlikley that his 4.3ee is faster than that 4.7ee. I dont even know about both being equal, can fsb and ram bandwith make up that much difference? Even if so, where do we get the extra 3.7k marks from? Nature of course! We would be talking 500+ nature. The other tests would be 100% cpu bound except maybe drag low but the gains in drag low would be minimal at best.

Now what is capable of 500+ in nature? 6800gt/u in SLI is one possibility but its out NOW and doesnt count as prototype testing. Could ati be expermenting with AMR already? Could AMR be on x850xt? I was under the impression its too late to have AMR on x850xt because those dont support it from the get go. Thus the only conclusion left is its a gpu NEWER than the x850xt. If this is the case, I can only drool at how powerful that gpu is(especially if hes using only ONE) Hes beating a p4ee clocked 400MHz higher in a VERY cpu intensive benchmark. Feel free to add your comments.
