People using a USB mouse or a keyboard with the DFI NF4 be sure to take a look.

I had a lot of friends here having similar stability issues,

but has been fixed so simple.

If you are using a USB Mouse or a Keyboard, be sure to change

the USB Power selection jumper from 5V(pins 1-2) to 5VSB(pins 2-3)

This jumper is located on the upper left side of the board.

    Right next to the dimms.

Before doing it, my friends experienced similar stability issues.

Most of them were sometimes unable to post,
(with the no signal on the screen, 4 leds lit)

or could not get into the bios randomly, because the system

would hang up with the logo screen on.

But after the above procedure, everything runs so smooth.

And I am very satisfied with my NF4 SLI-DR

I wonder if this will solve the 'board is dead' issue when no signal goes to the screen and all 4 leds are permanantly lit. As of now clearing cmos and hotflashing has done nothing to bring these boards back.

This is switching the usb devices power from 5v to 5vsb only. 5vsb supply is from psu so always on while 5v would be on only after the board posts

so do you think this may help the dead board issue? Perhaps there is some issue when powering up the board with usb devices on the 5v and not 5vsb.

I'm pretty sure it will fix your problem.

Your problem looks exactly the same as mine

I too, had no signal on the screen, and all the 4 leds lit.

Please try it as soon as possible.

And tell us how it goes.

no idea about this....don't know this board design...

those symtom of dead board is like total power cut off for bios to function or cpu side. I can't conclude even i experience several case from my previous experience...it is just too wide to narrow down because of several design and this DFI design is quite different from others from what i experience now...

Actually, I don't know how this USB thing

    helps the situation.

    BUT

I am very sure that a lot of you guys experiencing

the same problem as cantankerous, will solve the problem by doing it

So somebody with the same problem please just try it first,

and then tell us how it goes.

One thing I forgot. Your PSU must support 1.5A or more 5VSB power source

to use USB Mouse or Keyboards, which most of the PSUs provide.

I am using a OCZ Powerstream 520 and it works fine.

    Nice info.

But am I the only one with no issues with this board? I use a Logitech Desktop MX BT set (keyboard USB, MX900 through PS/2).
In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

Actually I do have reports from my friends saying that using only either

one of them on the usb port (one usb, one ps2)

sometimes doesn't seems to show any problems.
(for me, I am using both usb mouse and keyboards)

So people keep posting and we'll probably find out

    how this thing works.

I'm using an IBM usb keyboard, with 2-port usb hub built-in, here on the DFI NF4, with a Microsoft usb mouse, plugged into the keyboard hub....no problems.

My current board is fine but I had a beta SLI-DR board that had this problem and heard of at least one other retail ver. that had it. Maybe the jumper is suposed to be in the SB location by default?

I have moved the jumper and the board still will not post. 4 LEDs remain on.

Thanks for the tip, alothough I was not having any issues, I'll make sure I have it set to 2-3 when my new board arrives tomorrow

Manual (page 30) says if all 3 USB are switched to 5VSB the PSU must be capable of greater than 2A on this rail. Thats max spec on my OCZ 520. Just doesn't seem to make sense that this is better than the rock-solid 40A 5V line. Gonna try it that way anyway
