    2-192 Shroud Build

Since I'm waiting for my heatercore, and others are waiting for the shroud, I thought I would put up a few pictures of the final product.
Hopefully my new fans show up at the same time as the core.

The design is similar to the 199 shroud and uses the same 12 deg. taper on two of the sides. The holes in base lip have been enlarged to accommodate #6 mounting screws.

I think Weapon and I have come along way from the early 302 prototype shown.

the san ace 120 should cross paths with the box headed my way so they will be there before long. hopefully, canadian customs won't slap on too much of a customs fee.

edit - no more info on the other deal yet but I'll let you know as soon as I find something out.

This should be interesting. Delivery time, custom fee's and duty for a "made in Japan" item. I have to search out a supplier up here.

My 192 core should be here on Wed.

Yup, I think it's $10.00 to open the box and look, and then duties could be on top of that.

I was charged $5.00 for bringing a box across the U.S. border today and they didn't even look inside. I guess as long as it's addressed to a guy called Weapon then no need to check.

    Damn service charges

Saskatoon Breeze, I'd buy a fan with a name like that.

lol - i have reverse psychology working in my favor with customs - if it is addressed to Weapon then it is kinda like daring them to dig through it. They see the name and figure it would be far too obvious for there to be anything afoul inside the box so they don't give it a second thought.

Saskatoon Breeze...I'd have to add phase change or a trickle of LN2 to it somehow for it to live up to its name. Not many fans can produce a -50C breeze. lol.

Malph: so you drove over the border and you had a box and they charged you for having the box?? what happens if u want to go buy some groceries in the US. they charge you for milk and eggs... what ever happend to NAFTA. that is some pretty f'ed up carp. I can ship stuff to EU all day long and no customs duty.

I think everything I have shipped to canada has taken a customs hit - the PM at the local post office told me that canada is currently the most likely country to bounce your package back if there is the slightest error in the customs forms.

maybe they caught all of those south park episodes that were taking shots at canada for no reason??

Goods made in North America can be sold across the border without duties and tariffs (some exceptions like softwood lumber and mad cow's)
Goods for personal use are suppose to be declared and theres a limit to the amount that someone can bring (example ; after being in the U.S. for 48 hours you can bring back something like $150.00 worth of goods)
The custom fee's only apply to commercial shipments and the $5.00 I paid was to the U.S. Government as a user fee.

Yes, I could bring back a case of bud and a tank full of gas without duty as long as I'm in the U.S. long enough.

People should look into what they can and can't bring across otherwise they could get a nasty surprise with that trunk full of heatercores

Just relized this thread was connected to the one on the shrouds.......

And Maxxx is right, love those pics and the shroud sure looks ready for duty.

You're waiting for a refinished Weaponized core as well?

I've one question for yourself or Weapon.

Which would provide the higher throughput for inlet/outlet, Weapon flow cannons (just what is the ID on them anyway? If I knew that I could answer the question I have myself.) or add onto the 5/8" stock inlet/outlet with some 1/2 plumpers pipe connectors (that connect 2 portions of 1/2" pipe. So it's a bit bigger ID & with just a bit of sanding fit tight onto the core stubs for easy soldering in place.

Weapon sent you a PM regarding something else I've had kicking around in my head.........

craig the flowcannons are 5/8 od which is around 1/2inch ID. I picked up some 5/8ID tubing for the new fittings im getting on the rad and the res, as well as my 3/4 fittings on the pump... so anything coming and going from the iwaki will have massive fittings.. no more pidly 1/2OD fittings.. dam that pisses me of..

Its beautiful, its like two huge single pass HC's glued together in a harmony of cooling bliss.

oh about the customs garbage.. so if your a buisness sending something to another buisnes its free?? how about buisness to customer (retail)

and you get charged if its just someone brining over something to another person.. like sending a package.. but the loophole is if its a gift.. I did that onetime when i was sending a package to someone..
