after reading This article on The Inquirer, it seems clear that intels dual-core chips are going to go under a different name other than Pentium.
what would be a good name for the new chips? The Inquirer suggests a "digital brand" so something digital sounding?![]()
Intel Digeo, Intel Digitalis
those are my 2 guesses, now its your turn
*Update* "Presler" the codename for the 2nd generation of dual-core chips.
According to The Inquirer 65nm dual-core is on the way, and should be seen by Q2 2006, this will displace the previously named X20, X30 and X40, now revealed to be 820, 830 and 840 respectively, due to be released Q2 this year.
looks like they'll be starting at 3.6Ghz, so maybe 920, 930 and 940? that should hopefully mean 4.0Ghz dual-core![]()
so it looks like Dothan/Sonoma's successor will be dual core aswell and be used in laptops, a few people on this forum doubted that "Yonah" would be mobile, due to power consumption and thermal issues, but with the shift to 65nm these problems should be somewhat less of a worry.Presler is a 65 nanometre dual core processor, as is its sister chip Yonah on the mobile front
well thats all for this update, hope its some good stuff for u lot to chew on![]()
