is my 3500+ a winnie?

hey guys

just got it in from monarch today, but im confused. I put my stepping into google and what it pulled up was another guys thread here about the same stepping, and it said it was a newcastle. i thought that when I bought this 3500+ from monarch it would def be a winchester. lol was I wrong? where can I for sure buy a 3500+ winnie for ~$270?

Why don't you just ask them for a Winchester. Ask them specifically for the marking.

Yeah the winchester 3500+ is almost $100 more than the .13nm newcastle

Which is a pretty decent price jump. If you want a 3200+ winnie, get one from ZipZoomFly, they are $48 cheaper than newegg! I almost shat myself when I saw the price diffrence. (my 3200+ winnie from ZZF is a week 44VPMW)

Yeah, The Winchesters costs too much...need cheaper prices then they'd go over even better o'well...maybe after newyears

Well they dont write that out some times. Some stores just write ADA3500BIBOX The BI stands for Winchester

Post a screenshot. Besides, why don't you just look what the default voltage is - 1.4 = winch, 1.5 = newcastle.

your right, it defaults the volts of my cpu to 1.4 and I can also get around 2.5GHz at 1.4v so you may be right as for mem dividers, my cpu-z does report them right, at least the 133 and 166 dividers

if I cant sell it, then it looks like thats what Im gonna do.

have any of u dealt with monarch before, regarding returns/exchanges? if I were to return my 3500+ and get the $179 winchester, would they return me the rest of the money? or if I wanted to return my 3500+, how much would I have to pay for restocking fee?

and now Im not even sure if the $179 3200+ is a winchester

in the picture the cores have the "BI" marking, but then again, its just the picture.

If i called them up and asked them about the winchesters, do u think they oould possibly pick one out for me?

does your cpu default to 1.5 volts when you access the bios? mine is showing 1.4v unless I manually overvolt it. If you decide to sell that 3500+ try ebay.

All those with BI at the end are Winchesters, right now there is a shortage of them WORLDWIDE I don't know why but we all know AMD has a relatively tiny manufacturing capacity so add the numbers..

If I were you i'd return it before opening package for full refund then wait a month or so for the Winchesters to appear again, do not buy anything unless it specifically states Winchester or the PN is BI because the reseller can send you a Newcastle too otherwise and you can't return it claiming you wanted a Winchester always - do a specific request instead. Right now I doubt that any stores have any greater caches plus you'll want a late CPU not one of the earlier for best OC so wait until you can handpick one of the good babies.

If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't buy the 3500. Would buy the 3200. Max speed on the Winnie seems to be about 2.6GHz regardless of the multi. I run 265 HTT 1:1 with my RAM with a 10 multi for 2650MHz. Could do that on the 3200 for about 75.00US less than the 3500.
