help!! installing MCW50 gpu block on 6800GT

    Hi,

    I purchased a gainward 6800GT GS and a mcw50 GPU block.
    the installation looked simply enuff,

    however, I have a problem!!
I cant get the metal square ring to fit over the GPU block so that i can mount it to the PCB!!!
huh??? im very perplexed!! the rings where the pipes are supposed to be fitted seem to be getting in the way, r we supposed to open up the waterblock to
    do the installation??

    thanx!

no the ring goes around the outside just like in the picture... is it possible you dont have it turned the right way.. make sure you lined up the holes to mount it to the water block... if it still doesnt fit you might want to contact swiftech and show them a picute of it.. possible the ring got manufactured inccorectly... dont know how but its possible..

I had the very same problem with my kit. the metal thing will just not go inside the block as it supposed to, I thought I was doing something wong, but I found out that I was not. all what this metal square thing needs is some filing from the inside and it will fit nicley on the block when it's filed enough.

good luck. where did you get your 6800 instation kit from? the problem is not from the block by the way, it's the kit that you bought to make it fit on your 6800 that's is not perfectly made to make your life easier.

dude...MCW50 and 6800 Ultra here... ya gotta take a hammer to the metal frame and tap the hell outta it so it goes OVER the block. You will scrape some of the blue corners a bit, dont worry about it. Yeah its a bit of a hassle.
Also, I didnt even use the black base that goes underneath the card, it wouldnt really fit correctly, so I just doubled up on those tiny plastic spacers and all is good.
This is a really nice block. 500 core is stable for me as long as I have 70F room temp, no more, and some good fanage on my rads. I've benched 513 stable as well.
Temps are very good with about 34c load under these conditions, and 38-40c load if my room is hot as hell.
    Nice block.

I did not get mine directly from swifftech. I asked because I thought the place I bought the stuff from made their own kit, and that we both got them from the same shop. but I guess I was wrong.

so did you make it fit yet?
