    ballistix overclocking

    this is my rig

    3000+ 90nm
    Abit AV8
    1gb ballistix pc3200
    500w ultrax psu
    6800 gt

My pc is oced to 2.2ghz at 245x9 and ram is at 333mhz divider. My ram cant do 230mhz at 1:1. My pc would just reboot after getting into windows. So was i right about ballistix being crap? right now its chugging along at 200mhz with the 333 divider. And i did relax timings to 2.5 3 3 10 1t with 2.8v

I don't like mine. It only does 2.5 to 250 or so then craps out and needs CAS3. 2-2-2 only lasts until like 208 Mhz.

All the reviews gave it such great ratings, but they must have been lucky, or fed good sticks. On average, it isn't so great. I should have gotten Rev2 instead

what mobo are the people having trouble using?

    pc4000 Ballistix I run 2,2,2,7 @ 200mhz but can't run 2.5,4,4,8 @ 220mhz

    MSI neo2

Will boot all the way up to 250 @ 2.5,3,3,7 which leads me to believe it's something in the bios or the mobo itself

On my DFI, it ran 250 2.5-2-2-10 1T, 2-2-2-10 ran up to like 220.....haven't really pushed 3-2-2 at all.

The BallistiX uses Micon chips just like the OCZ EB... IE. not very good with the MSI.

In my K8NS Ultra939 they will do 230 2.5-2-2-6 easy with just 2.75v .. but in the MSI they wont even do 210 stable with 2.85+vdimm.

How does Ballistix respond to higher vdimm than 2.85v? like 3v+.

With my sticks anything over 2.95v is just more heat.

my 512 mb stick is weird. (512 mb pc3200 ballistix) they don't like foreign ram timings. Any timings which are relaxed don't work..atm, because of my cpu eness.. I'm running ddr 428 (214 mhz) 2-7-2-2-7 If i try something like CAS 2.5 or 3...it won't boot post or anything, switch off, and reset bios

EDIT: oh god...censoring.. i never knew...

What board / cpu, DeltZ? It's not censoring, it's transformation.

    IC7-G
    P4 2.53 (b) 533 fsb
    running overclocked at 3.04 ghz
RAM 3:2 divider (yes i know it's stressful and probably the reason why)
    ddr 428
    160/3 X 4 = 214 mhz.

Hoping to "upgrade" to a amd 3000 + newcastle

Buying one with broken pins...try and fix them, get the msi neo platinum socket 754 mobo off a b grade OCUK line. :P Probably won't work, but hey, worth a try...sell my CPU and old RAM (256 mb ddr 333) to a CEX try to sell my ic7-g for about 30-50 quid. ^^
