this is proof the problem is not the mobo but the winchester since a few winchesters dont mind the cold. few newcastles are shy of the cold. I think the 90nm die somehow is related to intolerance to cold

hmm, and so far what is the verdict on which ones do that? old? new? a select stepping group?

Yep, I'm interested in this thread as the other one was more aimed at problems that started to come around. A nice slew of new "it's all good" posts and I'm excited. I got a 6800GT that would like a little better than an XP-M for a running mate. Just got my Lian-li kit for my prommie when the good news started coming in the other thread. Guess my story is not very interesting, EVIL gaming rig coming soon though

What you get for 24/7 one page? If you just a mad bencher... care to guess? I was gonna go 3200+ over 3000+ for the 10 multi, now I'm looking at the 3500+. Prices are good right now. 3GHz might be a long shot but it's so nice and round number. 3500+ seem to be a bit better than the others on air.

I was going to go with the 3500+ myself, but i've decided on the 3000+, hopefully i can hit 2.7-3ghz under a 507 modded mk1.

Don't agree. My 3500+ on a Gigabyte 939 ultra was unable to work with the prom, i changed the gigabyte for a msi and it works like a charm .. the cpu is the same.

    There goes your theory

my board and cpu are old. i got both of them the week monarch started selling 90nm. there was one peron who had the same stepping cpu and still had trouble. i noticed at stock speeds my system would hang after a while. upping the vcore to 3.3% fixes that. another thing that struck me as odd was my htt setting. if i go directly from 5 to 3 the system will hang and i have to reset the cmos. dropping to 4, save, reboot, and then drop to 3 works like a charm.
