RMA'd to NewEgg and replaced it with another Abit 64mb ti4200.

A most impressive one at that. 335/650 stock outta the box.
No freeze and release bullschit either, it either runs 3DMark or locks.

My advice to you folks still tryin to make this card work is
to ditch it and buy something else. The Abits are clockin nice!

LOL it almost beat my highest 3DMark score without turning up cpu!!

Looking forward to moving "Onward and Upward" on the ORB

Either I've got a bum card or I've got a seriously demented PSU (cheap Chieftec 300W). I can't get prolonged stability at anything above 300/575 with my Abit Siluro Gf4 Ti4200 OTES. It sounds like a jet and for that reason I expected to reach far above the current limit. No RAM sinks added yet tho.

tried my card that does 270/640 on my roommates (that i built )

Seems to do 290/660 with no probs. Ran 3dmark 3 times got performance on par with my 2.4ghz machine. Makes me want to go back to amd.

what the heck is up with this. the psu on his comp is crap I can say that with confidence. I can say that there is the agp/pci lock on his board. Although I have tested my cpu with the agp/pci in spec but it didnt produce anything worth mentioning. This problem still has me baffled.

Benching has no real purpose except bragging rights.

If it's fast enough for you, then other people comments shouldn't matter. It's not their card and they're not the one using it.

ps. I thought of getting a 4600 but the little benefit I get doesn't justify the extra cost.

I have been in communication with Albatron UK and they have suggested they I up my AGP voltage, thing is I have an EPOX 8K3a+ and as far as I am aware it cant be upped. So I have emailed them saying its not a viable solution and could I have a replacement card that matches the review specs, that enticed me into buying the card in the first place! Their head office is only down the road (18miles or so) so I may pay them a visit at some stage.

I also commented that maybe the people doing the reviews had special handpicked cards and asked them if this was true. Lets see what happens now....I want that 700 on mem !!!

I am sorry for the guys that cant get these to overclock well but I have one and it does 315/730 all day long and all I did was put as3 on the cooler. I get 14444 in 3dmarks with it. I think they must be doing a dirty trick to the consumers. Look at it like this maybe they released the initail batch of high quality cards to get everyone buying them and then cut back to cheaper parts are something like that. In todays world of tricks people play to get you to buy things(cough cough [H]ardocp kiss my ass) I wouldnt be suprised.

I also got my at neweggs but when they first came out.

Thanks for the feedback - which chip revision is yours - A2 or A3?

Angry Add me to the list!

Well, another one - I got my Albatron TI4200P Turbo 128mb from newegg yesterday - let it run a bit without OC - OC'ed tonight and the results are:

    Minor Artifacts at:

    - 295x640
    - 300x600 (core sucks and freeze during 3dmarkse1)

    Good Run:

    - 290x640
    - 295x630

Basically, I can't go over 300 core without some freeze in 3dmarkse1 - mem sucks too (3.3) - I tried 270x650 and I get artifacts...

I don't know what game Albatron is playing but this sounds liek a scam as the early boards were running amazingly high and now all of them pretty much run barely decently - once again this board is somewhat made for OC and the ram is supposed to be good, like the HS - that's why we pay more big bucks! $185

I wanted to get the leadtek ti4400 for the same price but I guess I should have - anything wrong with that leadtek ti4400 (with the big hs's - dual) after all? it can do much more than this pos...back to where it came from...not asking for another one as they seem to all suck at the moment (at least from newegg...) - be good to hear someone who bought his from a different place than newegg and how it scores...it has nothing to do with neweff - maybe they got a bad batch...who knows...

And originally I wanted the Abit Siluro 4200 128mb

yeah man i was thinking about sending my labtron back and gettin a leadtek ti4400 for the same price. My albatron will only do 288/607 before it craps out on me.ive heard the leadtek cards score very well and are built good.if ya get yours before i do let me know how it does.Oh what do i tell NEWEGG so i can get rid of the turd albatron? just goes to show ya not to jump on a bandwagon with a newcomer in the vid card biz.Learned my lesson thats for sure.

All I told NewEgg was that it would not perform up to
the specs that they said it would in their advertisment.

They took it right back with no argument and no restock fee.

oh and this may help ya also as its not on their site anymore.

    http://web.tampabay.rr.com/wgf/albatron.jpg

You have to right click and save it to see it for some reason.
Its a picture of NewEggs add b4 they changed it.

    WannaGoFast,

Thanks - When I purchased it they had already removed the advertisement - so I wonder if they gonna give me a restocking fee or not...I had seen the advertisement, just bought it after they took it off...

It is too bad as this board looked great on the reviews...

My core is A3 and anything over 315 core causes dragothic demo to stutter in 3dmark but memory does 730. It is ashame companies start with something that could make them mainstream only to faulter and end up a run of the mill company.

Personally, I was hoping for 310-320 core and 650+ mem - can't even do that which sucks knowing that you can get a Leadtek TI4400 which can OC pretty high for the same price! I thought his card could go higher with the mem but we know it won't with that batch (at least for the majority) - Time go back to what's known to work and stop messing around

310/730, you should be happy! 90% of us cant get past 290/630.
So you have a good card.

That's right - I reconfirmed today - put more cooling (fans, etc) - the core will NOT pass 298 and the ram will not pass 140+ - the final OC is 295x632 (no more) - I even tried 300x550, No go (bad core) - oh well, being rma'ed ... waste of time and I had lots of expectations and this is not getting close...
The must have done something - that makes a lot of cards going thru the same syndrom...

Well, it wouldn't surprise me if nVidia dabbled around with the chip. Currently they're probably selling loads of Ti4200 designated chips which also steals the market from the more profitable Ti4600 based sales.

if not ill have to see if i can use my friends grpahics card for like 3 days or so while i wait for my card to get rma'd..

Only thing is what happeneds if the second card wont oc at all either.. or what if its worse? thats why im not sure if i wanna rma.

But i just bought a pelt block, and im gonna pelt/wc the gf4 core, so im thinking im gonna test this card first and if i cant get the card to do more pelted, then ill send it back.

Well im looking at 3 different cards now besides just gettin another albatron.

ASUS v8420 @ $207 the only other ti4200 on a ti4600 PCB that new egg carries.Even has 3.3 mem as well

    LEADTEK ti400 @ $ 185

AOPEN Aeolus ti4200S @ $151 this card actually beat the albatron in a few tests on guru3d.

What you guys think? i still need to get off my ass and get a box so i can send this pile of crap albatron back.Ive screwed with this card for hours and hours it absolutly will not run any higher than 293/607 and at that clock my 3D mark scores suck ass.Not like i care about the score but it does show a performance loss nonthelessAll i have to do is email them and get a RMA number and write it real big next to the label right? Im assuming they tell you the address and everything?Wonder how much shipping is gonna rape me.
