MSI Neo2 - to SATA RAID or... NOT???

    Quick question guys...

Is there any point in trying to get 2 x SATA drives in RAID 0 working on the MSI Neo2 or am I just asking for trouble with this idea and should stick with plain old IDE?

Also, I've never setup a RAID setup before, is there anything I should know about setting it up?

For example, I know that essentially 2 drives act as one, now, is it still possible to create a partition on there, as in drive c and drive d?

How do I install windows on such a RAID setup? Do I need to hook up an IDE drive first and setup RAID afterwards?

Sorry I am _totally_ noob on this subject.

    Here you go.
Yeah I know it's for a non Neo 2, but they are all the same.
One thing I will say about that thread regards the single drive set up.
I (and many others) found you don't have to use any drivers for Single Drive Setup.

Raid 0 makes 2 drives look like one huge one, and is fast, but has NO fault tolerance. (one drive prob, you lose the lot)
Raid 1 means you sort of lose a lot of space, as everything is backed up.
You can read about Raid 0+1 on that page, but you need lots of drives.

There is a trade of with raid, in that it takes some CPU cycles / resources etc.
I suggest you also read here and note (this is open to question)

Bottom line: RAID-0 arrays will win you just about any benchmark, but they'll deliver virtually nothing more than that for real world desktop performance. That's just the cold hard truth.

OK thanks a lot for the reply. I think I will stick with the good old IDE for my needs.
