    P4C800E-D 3.3 vdimm OVP!

    I have not found any thread on this subject.

    I'm trying to get my 3.3 vdimm to 3.6 vdimm (Yes!, I already have the Vdimm mod).
    Now, to do this I need to set my PSU 3.3 rail to 0.30 more than I want to set my vdimm under load.
    So...If I want 3.60 vdimm load I would have to set mu PSU at 3.90 and my trimmer at 3.60. Easy enough hummm!...so I thought, I had it all figured out!...Riiiight.
    The thing is that the PC turns off (Overvolt Protection) when I set my PSU at 3.71 (which gives me a usable 3.4 vdimm load).
    So, I thought it was the PSU's OVP kicking in too low, but when I bridge the PSU (by itself) I can get it to go up to 3.92v before OVP kicks in.
    Therefore the problem must be the Motherboard (I didn't know it had OVP).

    How can I raise or get rid of OVP for this board?
    I see a lot of people with 3.5 - 3.6 vdimms on this board, How are the doing it?

    Could u give us more info about the psu that u are using...?
    I don't think the asus board has ovp in vdimm...
    For my experience in this mobo the vdimm to be "clean" should be more or less 0,15 less then the 3,3line of the psu (in my case).
    It may happen that your psu could handle different values of voltage in the 3,3v line (with pc on nd with pc off).

    You need to realize that a psu that is just bridged reacts totally different to a psu under load where current/votlages are concerned.

    You should always have a psu under load when making adjustments to see where the breaking points are.

    I would recommend adjusting the OVP VRs which you asked about in another thread to see if that helps increase the OVP. A high resistance on an OVP trimmer decreases the OVP and low resistance increases the OVP.

    I am aware of the PSU reacting differently under Idle or load. I only bridged it to find out if it was the PSU or the Mobo that was shutting the PC down.
    If I use the OVP VR under load (in bios screen) it will always shut off at 3.78v when I set a higher value. Setting a lower value works ok, breaking at lower than 3.78. So the VR is working.
    If I use the OVP VR under idle (bridged) it works on all the range up to 3.92v.

    This is why I thought it must be the Mobo.
