Corsair 3200XL - What have you had out of yours?

I've got some of this RAM, and it's just failed prime, so it looks like I'm going to need 2.9v for 2,3,3,11 @ 220Mhz FSB.

Does anyone know what this memory is rated for?

Also, what have you guys been getting, and with what settings?

    Cheers

    Oli

2-2-2-5 at 200mhz. Put some 3.3 volts on that ram and tell us what it does.

I heard it has samsung chips that are supposted to run @ 250 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2,85v. I think that bs; I cant even get 230 stable at those timings @ 2,80v. I think 3.3v will give like 250-260 with some relaxed timings.

235 max memtest error free, 6 hour test, 243 max fsb, obviously not error free, timings where 2 3 2 11 at both fsb on a stock abit nf7-s 2.0. volts where at 2.9. I have one of the older boards fyi. (with the metal lever), I'm not suggesting that the metal lever boards are better, just using it as a time reference so ppl get a good idea of when it was bought. boards with metal levers MAY be able to over all, oc better, but I'm sure there are many nice oc'ing newer boards also. I am pretty sure that if I threw 3.3+ volts at this ram, I would be looking at higher fsb, 250-260 at 2 3 2 11, maybe even 2 2 2 timings, I'll have to wait for a booster for that My sticks are 2x512 btw, NOT 2x256, and I believe ch-5 is under the hood.

Hrm, sorry, big ass edit,------->>> jeez, I just read this thread again, sorry ppl, I have XMS PRO'S, WHICH ARE NOT XL, they are the ch-5 based pro's that came out first. I could have sworn that the title said xms pros, heh. of course I was tired as hell too. again, sorry for the big mis-info........

errm, isn't corsair xl known to be sammy tccd chips, also not for liking voltage at all, and dude has a thread showing his at ddr631 or something with 2.8/9 v, afaik it won't under any voltages do 2,2,2,5 above like 220Mhz.

I dont think volts helps this ram. also no one can get pc3500 speeds out of it at 2-2-2-5, probably cause corsair is binning them for pc3500XL

I'm running my 3200XL's @260 1:1, 2.5-3-3-6@2.8V Primestable. Not too good, but not to bad either. I got those sticks for a good price, of I wasn't, I would probably not be satisfied.

Corsair XMS Pro XL 2-2-2-5 PC3200 DDR TwinX 2 x512 MB

    I run mine at 2.9 V with a 245 FSB with settings 2.5-3-3-7

    With 3.1 V and 245 FSB, I run it at 2-3-3-6

I have the OCZ Booster on the way, so I will see if I can tighten those timings up a bit.

The highest I have had the FSB with 2-2-2-5 is 220. After that, I run 2-3-2-5 to 230. Then 2-3-3-5 to 240, then 2-3-3-6 to 250. The Abit IC7-Max3 I have does not power the RAM correctly after 2.9V. The OCZ booster should do the trick. Once I have that, I will try to get the timings to spec at 245 FSB.

yea 3200xl sucks, looks like eb is still the best closely followed by bh-5 if you can give it the volts.

What kind is Sandra score are you getting on your memory? It looks like your system spec's better than mine with the BH-5, but your 3Dmark03 score is a little low. I would have thought it would be around 15k.

BTW, the Corsair XMS Pro XL I have scores around 5900 on the Sandra memory test.

Low? Hmm seems pretty good to me but then maybe there are some software optimizations I could do.

I dont think I'll bother running sandra unless you really want me to for comparision, the numbers wouldnt be very impressive since I think the max I can run is around 210Mhz with only the stock 2.8v.

The score is not "low" per say, but I think there is at least another 1000 points hiding. I wish I had your spec'd system. There must be some tweaking left in it. Here is a link to my 3DMark03 score . Just wondering how it compares. I wish I had that kind of memory timings at 245 FSB.

What are your 6800U clocks? Also it may be the different driver and bios giving you improvements, are presscotts better for 3d03? Maybe if I used different drivers, had volt mods for 1:1, and gutted all the services and other unessesary stuff from xp then I could hit 15k. What optimizations are using?

I do have watercooling, but it is only a Koolance system. Here is a summary of my set up:

    1. Abit IC7-Max3
    2. evga 6800 Ultra - 480/1280 - 1.1/1.4/1.4 - edited BIOS - boots 450/1200- have clocked to 510/1310, but that was the edge.
    3. two SATA 120 GB drives RAID 0 in ICH5
    4. P4 3.2E at 3.9 (243 FSB) and 1.5675 Volts
    5. Corsair XMS Pro 3200 XL RAM at 2-3-3-6 - 2.8 Volts
    6. OCZ PowerStream 520ADJ PSU

    Pretty straight forward setup.

    Drivers:

I used the FM approved WHQL 60.85 drivers. These score around 200 to 300 points less than anything 61.34 and above. I have found them all about equal above this level, except in Aquamark 3. The best for that is 61.34.

I did have the Ultra BIO edited for 1.1/1.5/1.5, but all it did was make things warmer, not faster. If I had a more extreme cooling system, maybe I could take adavantage of the extra voltage.

I am running Windows XP - SP2 all the patches, etc.

What is the make off your card? Do you know what rev of BIOS it is? The latest is around 2.0.15.07 or higher. I have tried around 14 different BIOS's, and the evga is the best bet.

Maybe your higher gpu clocks and (I assume) ram at 1:1 are making a big difference? Also are the prescotts faster for 3d03? And maybe sp2 is faster also? (theres no way Im installing that yet)

My Ultra is a eVGA, it came with the latest .15.07 bios.

I would definitely run the RAM 1:1 and see what happens. The RAM transfer rates are much better, and 245 FSB is not too much of a push for that RAM.

This is not with Corsair TCCD but PQI, 2x512 MB sticks, rated PC3200, 2-2-2-5. Maybe these sticks are not limited by binning :

    212, 1:1, 2-2-2-5 @ 2.8 volts (Bah!)
    253, 1:1, 2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.6 volts (IS7-E)
    260, 1:1, 2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.7 volts (IS7-E)
    266, 1:1, 2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.8 volts (IS7-E)
    270, 1:1, 2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.8 volts
    275, 1:1, 2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.9 volts
    250, 1:1, 2-3-3-6 @ 3.1 volts
    286, 1:1, 2.5-4-4-7 @ 2.8 volts

This is on a 4PDA2+, Rev. 2.0, unless indicated otherwise. I did not test other voltage/CAS settings. The settings above are 3D stable settings. I find you have to drop 2-3 mhz down from max Memtest clean settings.

You will notice I did not test between 212 and 253 fsb because I have the Ballistix stuff with mT -5B Gs that will do 2-2-2-5 or 2.5-2-2-5 here, all at 2.6-2.7 VDIMM. No way the TCCD would keep up anyway.
