    Question The Best s939 MoBo!

    Hi guys ( & girls )!

I'm buying a new config s939 for OC , in your opinio which is the best s939 OC MoBo?
Abit AV8? Asus A8V? or anything else?

I will waited nForce4 but it is coming too late... Do you know when DFI s939 is going to be release?
    Any advice for my choice?

    Tnx all !

P.S. can i use the OCZ ram booster on it?

I know that there have been some people that have had issues with the Abit board. It seems to give wildly different temp readings each time you boot up (I can boot one time and show 20 degrees and reboot and have it show 40 degrees). There are also some questions regarding the Abit uGURU/EQ monitoring settings in the Bios. My computer qould not cold boot with this monitoring enabled. It wasn't an issue for me since I am watercooling so I disabled it.

All that being said, I am absolutely thrilled with my Abit board. I've tinkered around with 4 different brands of memory in various configurations and the board has been rock stable with any of them. I've run upto 280 FSB on it with no issues at all and I am currently running my 3500 at 260/10 and it is 100% stable.

I own the Abit board, and I would have to say that its horrible for OC'ing and tweaking. It can't run 1:1 mem much over 220MHz, some people are lower than that. It can't bench 3D stable at high speeds, which is also a big turn-off. The board has alot of bugs that I hope Abit is working on.

I bought a MSI K8N Neo2 that is supposed to arrive at my house today. It's got its fair share of bugs, but nothing major like the AV8. I'll let you know how it works.

Well my Abit has no problems running at high speeds but I have heard that there is a Rev 1.2 board out and it's possible that I have a newer board.

I am not 100% certain that I have a Rev 1.2 but considering I have not experienced the problems that some other users have I may have a new board. If I can, I will check the board tonight and post for sure what Rev it is.

Like I said, I have been very happy with it so far. I have run at 260x10, 280x9 and 235x11. Unfortunately my Ram can only do about 217ish so I haven't been able to test the ram at any higher settings but my OCZ Booster should be in this week and we'll see if I can get a bit more out of it

My latest 3DMark03 run was done at 2550 (255x10), memory at 214 (Cas 2.5-3-3-6 1T) and 460/1200 on my 6800GT and I scored 13667 so I'm pretty happy with 3D performance. I've managed 65.1 FPS in the Doom 3 TImedemo at 1280x1024 2XAA and 8XAF so I think it's doing well.

Also keep in mind that these are all 24/7 stable speeds for me, not max overclocks.

my a8v v1.02 with working locks does pretty good. asynch up to 275HTT and synch 1:1 at least to 250mhz.

my 3500+/a8v 1.02/3700EB 2x512 combination has done me just fine thus far. up to 246x11 1.68vcore 1:1 with 2.7vdimm(oddly undervolts) air cooled. Planning a vdimm mod to 3.0~3.1vdimm to get some 265~275 1:1 action

If i had to choose a new board right now i'd get a asus a8v dlx non wifi(revision 2.0).

Sry for posting a bit offtopic. But i was wondering about those 1t/2t settings that is on s754.

I can run 260fsb stable with 2t or 230 with 1t. But 2t takes a big perfomance hit So im wondering if my memory sucks or if this problem will be gone with s939?

Because intel have never ever got any 1t/2t or cpc enable/disable in their stuff? And never got problems with double sided sticks?

Hope amd will go the same way or im totally of my mind?

    Ontopic:
I dont like asus, so if i would buy now i would go with the gigabyte. But i know nothing about 939

Whoa, great success with the Asus 1.02 board?
How do you enable the locks? With the beta bioses? Where can I get them?
And also any ill-effects of using the beta bioses long term?

What FSB without locks? Memory timings?
Lol, a lot of questions, but I hope I get answers.

you can get the beta bios's in my sig, along with clockgen/setfsb for the a8v.

So far the only problem with running a beta bios is the effective loss of x5 ldt and ive been running one of the 2 beta bios for all but maby 4 or 5 days and i was one of the first to get one.

allows you to change once you get to windows.

I usually set my normal start up at 232*11 for normal daily stuff and folding.

for benching I will drop the multi to 10 or 10.5 and up the FSB.
its alot easier to do it on the fly than have to reboot and change things. Saves alot of time and you can fine tune it faster.

The abit av8 should be avoided at all costs. The asus a8v dlx non wifi (all should be v2.0) is the only board out currently i would buy.

The Gigabyte seem to really need vmods to perform well.
The asus a8v wifi may or may not lock the agp/pci bus(altho it should now)
The msi k8n neo2 seems to be a okay choice, people are gett'n good results with them. I just personaly will not grab my ankles for MSI ever again.

The DFI should be a damn fine board, but will not be released for another month or so at least from all reports.

Mongoose, any idea if the Clockgen and Setfsb that you have their will work with the Abit board since they use the same chipset?
