Perhaps many of you already knows it , so I hope this post won't be considered as spamming. I've made a guide on how to dissect, hack and do anything you like to award BIOS at : in my website . I hope it would be useful for someone who might need it

this doesnt look easy as modding a graka bios! you need to know programming but for ASCII you just need windoze calculator!
nice
i cant even get modbin to work with my msi k8n neo fsr bios was gonna play with it alil to see what i can unlock. keep getting either cant find directory or checksum error
DFI NF4 Ultra D/3800 x2 @ 2.5ghz/2x512 BH-5/ EVGA 7800 GT /OCZ 600W PowerStream
in case my website is out of bandwidth, you can download the article at : The CodeBreakers Journal.

I don't mean to offend but this seems to be useless for ASUS or Gigabyte custom BIOS file format.
Very good and in depth work! Good to see that we have clever people on this forum. There was this awesome russian website, rom.by, it had a patch that would patch any old bios with like big hdd support and such, it's a shame it seems to be down...
hope somebody modded DFI 975x bios.. hehehe can you enable 1333 strap? or unlock lower multi..
Asus P5W64 WS Professional , DFI Infinity 965P-S (testing)
X6800 , E6750 es
Micron Fatbodies , Micron D9gkx oem, Crucial 8000, Crucial Tracer 8500 (incomming)
Ati FireGL V5100, Elsa FireGL V3100
water cooling setup (EK 775 cpu block, swiftech NB Block, Swiftech pump, BI dual pass dual 120mm)
Silverstone OP650
raptors, baracuda
It seems to be both of them are derivate of award BIOS. Indeed they are quite different. But, very probably still a variation of LZH compressed files. Even AMI uses this kind of compression. I ensure about that. If you're skillful enough, you can disassemble the bootblock for further info's.Originally Posted by audiofreak

Wow man, well in depth and very impressive, great job done.
Well, I've been working on this thing for quite some time now. The fundamental knowledge is now published as book in Amazon and some other major book retailers. The book titled: BIOS Disassembly Ninjutsu Uncovered
This is the link in Amazon:
BIOS Disassembly Ninjutsu Uncovered
The book is quite complicated and requires knowledge in x86/PC assembly language. However, it should be easier to comprehend compared to my rough articles.
my updates and comments about the book contents is in the following link:
