C6H from eBay got here today. It's staying in the box, though, despite 0902 and all that. The Taichi will be in shortly, so . . . yeah. Hopefully the bracket for my NH-D15S will show up by then too.

Damn. That's interesting . . . and somewhat dismaying for people that paid out big bucks for X370 boards.
Any idea how that stacks up against the flagship MSI board?
That's a preety good question. I'm sure stable speeds will be higher, I would not try stressing this to much.
I don't have $300 to shell out for the MSi especially since in the competitive ln2 game bclk will matter.
I have not reached out to MSi yet either, not sure if any of my old contacts even exist so as it stands I won't be testing it.
I may grab a tomahawk on my own dime though. The larger the baseline I have for testing the more accurately I can analyze things.

Once the BIOS improves the Tomahawk will be a decent board. I still wouldn't run consistent high V's with it though.

OCN has pics of Xpower PWM....the short of it is not good. At least not $300 quality good.

Just seems rather lame that the VRM sections of boards can be so weak, on the "higher tier" boards. For a basic board, basic VRM not capable of much is expected, but seriously, to skimp on one of the most important parts for an overclocker's board...?

it should handle 4-4.1 fine....Ln2...probably not. It's not horrible in fact its not even bad. The issue is the cost for what it has and or doesn't have.
The ln2 guys probably won't even give this board a second thought anyway. That level of game play will require bclk or the playing field will not be even.

Well that's what I mean though, in general. Certain kinds of boards at the various price brackets should not skimp on the important parts.
Even though I'm not an ace overclocker with anything crazier than water, I still want a good, solid, stable VRM that I don't have to even think about.

I'm just sad that in the Intel camp the saying is 'every board is pretty much good to go' and here we are trying to decipher hieroglyphs in order to figure out which one, if *any* of them, are worth buying.

Taichi comes in tomorrow. Would have had it today but the postal service wouldn't just drop the thing off at my door. Blah. I'll grab it from the post office tomorrow.

I have Fatal1ty AB350 K4 on the way, so I will be able to test if Asrock is good.
Site says 3200+(OC) for the memory and I also got a second set of B-die memory.
Will test how high it can go. Ofc gonna be limited to 3200 due to no external PLL.

Cool thats one on my list. As cheap as they are i don't mind buying a few b350 to fool around with.
Looks like the giga actually has a decent pwm for b350.
The gaming 5 pwm is not bad quality but heatsinks and pwm switching frequency are probably the cause of it running hot.
They are probably running switching frequency on the high side.
That can be tuned probably

ASUS B350 Plus
Prime x370
Crosshair x370
1700
Buy based on your needs.
Xfire, SLi x370 etc etc etc.
At this stage I am not standing behind any board currently nor will I recommend any particular board at this point in time.

Don't need sli , xfire
Just a decent mobo that will allow 4ghz 1700 and 3000 oc on the ram.
Just fyi, NOBODY should be complaining about how bad boards are. If you guys got what just landed in my lap you would vomit all over yourself. Example.... to set memory in bios (if you can even get there) you are presented with hex... not numbers. Voltage control? They said "oh hell no"

This is interesting the ASUS prime x370 is using a real 6 phase.

its neither of those. you can find a pic of it on the internet, but that is all the info you can find about it. currently unreleased, undocumented and not very intuitive. I found it mentioned on reddit... ONCE. Basically what you guys got now is way WAY better than what you could have gotten. I have to use a windows 10 feature just to enter bios.
Wtf
don't complain about bios or boards because it can be FAR worse.
