Can you please post a pic of the back of the card sir just to make sure that it follows the reference design?

You can email it to me if you like:

    rwbradl2@ncsu.edu
    hell-fire@xtremesystems.org

Best thing to do is use Paint and change it from a Bitmap to a JPEG format...or shrink it down.

locate the 6522Cb chip on the backside of the card near the VGa OUT. solder a 10k pot between Pin 5 (FB) and 7 (GND).
I'll post a pic in few minutes.

    Pic:

I also did the Vmem mod but the card didnt like that. It gained me no higher OC but I lost stability. The strange thing is that the max memclock raises when you give more Vgpu. at 1.7V my card does 380MHz mem (also Hynix 2.8) but at 1.9V I get 410Mhz and for benching I can go up to 434MHz when Vgu is at 2.05V(might have been higher). Vmem still at 2.7V

funktional, are you positive that chip controls the gpu voltage?

I think the 9700s use them for memory, as that would explain the increase in your memory clocks.

The front side of the RX9800 uses isl6529cb.

    Data sheet here: http://www.intersil.com/data/fn/fn9070.pdf

I think that is more likely to control the gpu.

    Thanks for any input.

Yes I am positive that the 6522CB controls the gpu voltage. Strange that MSI uses the same chip that the original ATI Layout uses but changes the funktions. Lowering the resitance on the 6522 increases gpu voltage (1.7V default), all memory voltages I found on the card remain as they are. Lowering resistance on the 6529 increases mem voltage (2.7V default) but doesnt change OC.

    Edit:
Memmod is ISL6529 pin 9 (FB) to pin 3 (GND).

did the mod as described in da picture and it gave me 1,87VGPU on the first try. (poti@10k) an the memory's heat production rose a lot so i guess it gets a lot more volt!

Thats strange. I use 3.5K right now and get 1.86V. Memory temperature didnt change for me but i have some fans blowing air over the card so that the memory never even got warm.

Could you post your OC before and after you did the mod?

    Talking its DONE :D

first of all big thx@ hell-fire and of course funktional !

Joe and I did the mod last night and all works fine!

yes little strange i thought too was as i read first the voltage it was already 1,87 Volts ! but the poti was still on max resistance...

it took a long time before i can go higher but at least now i reached 1,92Volts

    my scores:

without mod : 440-444Mhz Core and 380-384mhz memory

with mod (now) : 470-474 Core and 394-396 mhz memory

i got a fan blowing above now first without it memory get s little bit warm.... but now its still cold without fan i could reach 387 only for mem. !

cooled by modded special radeon cooler by Joe (big thx again!)

scores: amd64 3200+ 2230mhz 203mhz mem. 2.0-2-2-5 amd64 tweaker very tight! and fully Oc ed radeon
