Thank you to the more than 4 million people who submitted and voted for their Local Heroes as part of National Mobility Awareness Month. Entering a Local Hero story and Voting is now closed and the top 10% of the entries in each of the categories (caregivers, seniors and general) with the most votes are being reviewed by an independent panel of judges.
The four finalists will be contacted by a National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) representative by May 30, 2014. Please watch for updates on NMEDAs Facebook page. Should you have any questions on the program, please visit http://www.mobilityawarenessmonth.com/about/rules/.

Semi-Finalists will be posted on this website by May 15, 2014.

This contest only runs once a year. It has two phases. Phase 1, the public voting phase for the 2014 contest closed on the 9 May 2014. The top 10% of the 2014 vote getters have moved on to phase 2 the panel judging phase . Follow this link and read para 5 to 7 of the contest rules. It will give you a good overview of this year's Local Hero contest. Have a great week... http://www.mobilityawarenessmonth.com/about/rules/

Laust, it is up to the judges now.

I am sure they will look through the submissions and pick the best choices, Kelly has a real good chance at this stage.

Thanks again everyone, I am sure we made a difference for mobility awareness too.

The record for late delivery of an email is a year. While it's usually pretty quick there's no guarantee any given email will arrive on time, intact or even just the once.

    Fugger,

You may want to check the XS server email and PM functions. I did not get a resend of your emails to all XS members recruiting folks to vote for Kelly. However over the last 2 days I got 5 emails form the XS server advising me that I had PMs waiting for me at the XS website. I recognized the text in these 5 emails as being from PMs that were seen by me before 1.5 to 2 weeks ago. Could the same thing be happening with the emails you sent to recruit folks to vote for Kelly?

I only got 1 email during the voting period, and received another one a couple days ago that was clearly from before the voting had ended. I think there is something wrong with the mailing system.

Got my 5 days notice today too, about noonish PST. Luckily, I got my 8 a day in while the voting was good. Odd to get em so late.. but thinking back, I think they were all several days late, even the first. I think y'all were up to 4 or 5k votes when I got the initial notice.
Best of luck to Kelly in stage 2! Now we get to sit & wait...

If you take the time to look up two posts you'll see the forum admin are having trouble with the mailer system. They're not deliberately spamming you or anyone else.

Hmmm. I just got one as well.

I guess that means I better come here and have a big cry about it or something. That's the established procedure, right?

Sorry I missed it, glad she made it. I did not receive any spam, just one email today and went to vote. Saw that it was closed. Obviously Fugger/XS is not 'spamming' you on purpose to help someone in need to please chill out... users with really old accounts and few posts.

Sorry I missed this guys, and glad that she made it.

Just learned about it from an email yesterday, way too late.

On a different note I think calling these emails "spam" is pretty harsh; if anything unfortunate that some of us did not receive them in time...

However if fellow forum members believe that carefully thought through "broadcast" emails from owner & admins fall into the "spam" category there are always either spam filters on the recipient's emails that can be configured or Settings > My Account > General Settings > Messaging & Notification > Receive Email. "Untick" the boxes as appropriate and presto... the problem goes away.

Me too OC, mine came at 03:40 UTC.. I clicked on the delete permanently option in my email apllication and it just disappeared form my screen...

Seriously folks, there is still a lesson learned here for all of us. Using "vBulletin Mail" via PHP to deliver time critical information to a large mailing list is problematic and unreliable. Just Google for it and you will find lots of hits relating to Vbulletin shortfalls and a number of work around fixes for various versions of Vbulletin. The version of Vbulletin presently available to XS staff appears to need a mass email fix or an upgrade to a later version. If this is not possible a more reliable mass email applications should be acquire by XS if mass email is to be effectively used in the future.
