    yeah yeah!

ordered the rest of the parts for the main rig today!

so by the end of next week there will be another 12 threads crunching away at my house! for a total of 36 cores in house!

looking at your rig stats, why you use a pair of E31225? they seem pretty decent but for the money they cost seems like you could do better? or did you get a good deal?

    Pretty sweet.

I'm still trying to figure out how to defeat an intrustion switch so the server fans on my newly refurbed R410 won't spin at 7,000 rpm.

Found my PC at work wasn't running BOINC nor the F@H client not sure what happened but both were closed. Event logs showed nothing out of the ordinary, no sign of a reboot or anything.

I would dearly like to know what the top PPD producers on the Ripple Labs team are crunching with. Their PPD of 2.9 to 3.5 millions per day are just outstanding..???

I am sure glad that they are such major contributors to our common WCG humanitarian research projects.

There's a lot of them paying for cloud compute instances. Apparently the cloud instances cost less than the pay back they're expecting from the Ripple venture. Put simply, they're crunching for money and WCG is only benefiting as a side effect. On the plus side, WCG is benefiting.

They should change from ComputingForGood.org to ComputingFor$$$.com
This is why they have such a high PPD:

For those that moved or want to move to Ripple, this is what I read on their site.

You must remain a member of the Ripple Labs team to claim XRP.
Looks like you will be stuck there if you want to claim what you have earned.

    Thanks for the information guys...

Process is: Cloud computing + 282 CPUs + $150.00 per month cost and hoping for a 40 to 1 XRP payout / $ expended ratio...

Using the offered two free instances (one Linux and one Windows) and the $100.00 Amazon credit for paid instances (if still available) maybe a cheap way to boost our XS WCG PPD...???

I already used the free Windows Azure credit ($200/EUR150) to raise our PPD
It's easy to setup, you get a few calls from MS to check 'if everything is right' You can get 20 cores and the credit lasts for ~7 days. In total it made 423k WCG/60k BOINC points.
They won't charge you if you use all credit, just remove your instances.

    Mumak,

I looked at the Windows Azure page and it looks like they are now offering a $220.00 credit with the free one month trial, with no strings attached. (see here) https://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/p...test_trialpage

Can you post the steps of how you did it...? I would like to give it a go. I also look at this WIN Azure calculator http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/pr...rtual-machines but did not get very far since I was not sure of the options you used. Free extra crunching for our XS WCG team, even for a limited time period, looks like a must try option to me.

    Thanks..
