    Honestly, I find this mining fever disgusting. Capitalism and greed at its finest. If any company overpriced their products out of greed (I suppose), people whine and complain. But to make money yourself out of thin air while wasting energy, that apparently is okay. At least those companies employ people, pay wages and taxes and make products we all enjoy. Mining does nothing productive at all.

    You just described half of the service industry. There are a lot of more frivolous wastes of electricity. Much like those wastes this can have a positive impact on the economy.
