AMD To Show Off Radeon R9 290X Video Card in Montreal Tomorrow!

If you’re in Montreal tomorrow you can get a sneak peak at the upcoming AMD Radeon HD R9 290X video card running on a 4K monitor! AMD will be hosting a public event at the Hilton Bonaventure hotel in the Jacques-Cartier meeting room in downtown Montreal, Canada. There is an open door policy in the afternoon for gamers between 3pm to 8pm that would like to get a true hands-on gaming experience with the new ‘Hawaii’ powered GPU. AMD informed us that they will have systems running both the AMD Radeon R9 290X and the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 780, so you can do some comparisons when you are there. AMD will be running “Bioshock Infinite” at 4K resolutions during the event.

so yeah now we know against what product the 290X is positioned, not the titan but the 780GTX, hopefully this also is reflected in the price.

Yes, R290X is officially positioned against GTX 780, by price and better performance

Actually Titan is just 7.5% faster than 780GTX(vanilla version!) according to techpower.
So 290x being faster than regular 780 just means that is basically on par or even a bit better( probably depending on game title) than Titan . All that with better pricing structure than both 780 and (especially) Titan. Then you have TrueAudio and Mantle, GCN being the target/proffered platform for both console and PC games (logical as AMD has the hardware for all next gen consoles locked in for next 5-10 years). AMD is winning this time, there is no doubt about it.
