sorry to ask here, but, currently attempting to upgrade to 64-bit

in my sig is my memory. I only have 4GB, so obviously would like to max it with this board.
    I see I have 2 sticks of CMX256A-3200LL XMS3200 256 MB 400MHZ 2356, AND 2 of XMS3202V1.1 024805 CMX256A-3200 C2

can I use any of these to max my board?
if not, please recommend place to buy memory besides eBay?

    thanks

Those are all DDR1 sticks, they are physically incompatible. Craigslist might have some cheap memory.

    Or anyone actually.

I'm a complete n00b when it comes to flashing, and I can't find my Floppy drive anyone, so I have to result with USB.

Can someone please set up a tutorial for a 6-y/o=me, on how to set up a USB flash drive for BIOS flashing.

I'm under the assumption that :
    18/b18-1116.BIN
    18/flash.bat
    are the latest.

I didn't do any modding to the board besides Ace's fan mod.

I went back the default safe BIOS since I was getting into a lot of memory dump when loading/transferring a hundred pictures from camera to HD.

    greatly appreciate it

Still going strong here with ~4.92 years of total PC uptime. Still in use daily at my girlfriend's house and at 100% CPU load generally with Folding@home. It could use an SSD, but still is otherwise quite usable and fast enough.

why don't you post your set voltages.

i do see that you have four sticks of memory...overclocking becomes more difficult in that configuration...generally the cure is to at least raise Vdimm, ICHIO and MCH....do it in small increments to see if that solves the problem.

i will be gone for a week so someone else can give you a helping hand to help you solve this little problem-O
Thread revival, I know, but I'm trying to get 4x4GB to work currently. Am running 2x2GB of the G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ. I've been short on memory so I ordered another pair. I can get a stable system with the old pair and the new pair separately but they aren't playing well together. BSOD in Windows, etc.

    Otherwise, been running my E6850 @ 400x9 2x2GB 2.0v 4:5 5-5-3-15-55-2T since 2007 without a hiccup. MCH 1.29v, ICHIO 1.5v. GTLREF at 67/67.

Now with all 4 sticks, I get a couple of minutes of stability if I raise ICHIO to 1.6v but nothing beyond that helps. Raising MCH makes the system less table. Raising (and lowering) vdimm makes the system less stable. Raising DDR2 reference voltage (from 0) makes it less stable. I'm about to give up and just down-clock it a bit. Will report back if that does the trick.

    Well keeping everything as-is:

    400x9 1:1.25 (DDR2-1000)

    DDR2 2.0v
    MCH 1.29v
    ICHIO 1.60v

I get 2-3 minutes of stability in OCCT Linpack. These settings were stable for the last 6 years with 2 sticks of RAM. 4 seems to be a bit more demanding. No other changes improved stability (as explained above).

Dropping the memory to 1:1.20 (DDR2-960) gets me 20 minutes, and the test simply errored without crashing the system. Progress!

Then upping the MCH to 1.37v has so far netted me 45 minutes. I think I'm going to call it good if it survives 1 hour of hell

OCCT Linpack (90% memory setting) torture test errored after 1h 41m. I figure if it can survive that long at that level, it should handle my daily tasks of web browsing and photo editing

I guess going from 1000 to 960 is a rather small concession to make in the quest for 8GB.

I will say...at no other time have I seen my CPU hit 70c like I did during OCCT Linpack

I have bad news, ip35-pro does not work nicely with 771 xeons. It will boot fine but whenever you change your overclock settings it will revert back to stock after double posting on reboot. Funny enough the ip35-e works without problems, except for the double post. So now I am rocking an E5440 on ip35-e while my ip35-pro is collecting dust.

Amazing to see the IP35 still being supported here, with that in mind could I ask for some help.

I have kept updating my HTPC which is an IP35 motherboard, and now it has Windows 8.1 loaded I've come across the first real issue.

Windows 8.1 changes the way the system wakes from sleep (or hibernation), and now requires HPET, or High Precision Event Timer to be present as a system device. The only BIOS which supports this is the beta 12 BIOS, which is good, but also lacks the updates later versions have.

It would be a great benefit to current IP35 users wanting to use Windows 8.1 if someone could modify a later BIOS and add HPET support, or look into which module HPET is on and try to merge the code for it. Without HPET enabled in the BIOS our beloved IP35 will not wake with a scheduled task.

I can supply the only BIOS which does work with HPET, can anyone update a later BIOS with the relevant code?

I have no idea how to go about adding HPET. It's odd that only that specific version has HPET support, maybe that was one of the "beta" features they tried to add. Sorry, the only extent of BIOS modding I know is OROM replacement. If you can get by with using beta 12 and don't absolutely require the additional features/fixes of newer BIOS versions, I would be glad to update its option ROMs for you.

As you say it is odd, only beta12_01 has fully available HPET options. It works OK, the high precision timer is fully functional in this one BIOS.

BIOS versions M629B12b02 and M629B_12.BIN have the code present in the actual BIOS but the HPET menus are disabled the setup page. So the most up to date BIOS it could be enabled in is M629B_12.BIN

Your offer to update the Option ROMs is great thank you, so yes please that would great. So just for clarity the one we are talking about is M629B12b01

Thanks again, your help is appreciated.

It may be possible to edit the menu to be visible in the "stable" 12 BIOS release but last time I tried to edit menus I bricked my board, so I don't want to risk it. I will just update the option ROMs of the 12 beta 1 BIOS then, I should have it done within a few days.

Yes I agree, long time no see.

I miss the motherboards and the Abit forums, absolute great bunch of people on there, best forums I have ever used since using the Internet since 1994, total shame the forums were closed down.

Would of been great to have moved it onto another website and kept the community it had.
