I didn't realise either that these two CPUs have 16MB of cache, I must of missed that when strolling through posts earlier.

EDIT: I see now that it's 8MB L2 + 8MB L3.

sorry I was wrong, AMD are worthless, those of us who own AMD are really misguided in keeping let alone upgrading such horrible systems, our best bet would be to can the AMD garbage till we can afford to buy an intel/nvidia combo, even if its low end i3 and 550 videocard, it would still be better in every way that matters.

My local computer store is listing the 9590 for $1100 which is insane, so I assume this CPU will perform close to Intel's high end offerings? If not, AMD really screwed up the pricing. Any benchmarks?

I would not brag about it, that's terrible prices, i would not pay more than 300 pounds.

Pricing is one thing, performance is other . Note that this is not normal SKU and is not meant for average PC buyer (hence not in the same basket as 4770K). This chip can be further OCed on more extreme cooling and has potential for hwbot records. We all know who buys such CPUs and they ain't no average PC users .

If you want cheap Vishera FX, you have it today. It's called FX8320 and it's priced extremely low for what it offers (be it stock or OC).

it isn't the first 5ghz CPU, just the first in the consumer market.

Also computer parts tend not to gain value over time, even ancient ones, usually systems or stuff like that do, but not really components.

It also isn't that limited edition you know, i mean most stores seem to have one or two of them, if local shops have them then it isn't that limited.

The pentium 4 extreme edition just used a little more energy than a athlon 64.

This uses 100watts more than an intel model which is close to double and will likely be the biggest power hog for a desktop processor ever.

Also the pentium 4 could still be cooled with a rather conventional cooler. This things needs beyond air cooling and a special motherboards.

Most importantly the pentium 4 was panned for being a bad processor. Basically everyone that was an enthusiast had a Fx processor back in the day in their signature, not a pentium 4 extreme edition. People still use it as the benchmark for bad power consumption and heat. Yet AMD is knowingly doing the same thing not learning from Intels mistakes.

The power consumption of this fx 9590 makes pentium 4 extreme edition seem like a power sipper.

I don't even see this fx 9590 being for a regular the enthusiast market or bragging rights as Informal puts it. Overclock any of Intel's 220 dollars and up processor to the max and the fx 9590 to the max(under anything short of liquid helium) and the Intel has a good chance to come out on top with their 220 dollar processors and their 300 dollars and up processors for sure come out on top.

Any one that has this processor in their system is basically giving AMD charity money. Paying a crazy amount for inferior performance, monster heat and power consumption and low overclockability under most cooling.

A geforce titan or i7 3970x are for bragging rights because they are simply the fastast out there. I would say the same thing with the hd 7990 or gtx 690.

If I see this processor in anyone signature, it will denote to me that this person is the most hardcore of the hardcore of an AMD fanboy or got the processor for free. What hurts the meaning of this processors is AMD's 200 dollar processors come unlocked AND your getting the same silicon as their 200 dollar processor, back in the day, nothing but a Intel extreme edition(and the upper FX series) had an unlocked multiplier. Your not even paying for the unlocked multiplier with the fx 9590.

I was referring more to Q9650 and QX9770. I didn't see you guys complaining then. I really don't see the difference. There is a market for these chips that AMD is filling. You don't have to buy them. You can buy the 8350 just like I bought a Q9650.

Depends the rumor was these chips will not the same exact core as the 8350/8320. People will pay for a tweaked vishera core if it performs better same as the 960T vs 965BE the 960T performed and clocked better for the most part. If that happens with these chips and the 9370 isn't god awful expensive why wouldn't people buy it.
