@mockingbird
Those must be 2 or 4Gbit ICs. As I don't know about BBBG much, I didn't add them to the first post.
But I believe those won't be anything spectacular, otherwise makers would be using them on the non-trivial models.

So far I've seen three kits with their HS removed, and all of them were Elpida BBSE OEM/eTT. I agree with Sam, I think they're pretty bad BBSE. A picture would have been very nice though!
They're 4Gb ICs ( J4208BBBG ), but right now I can't even find them on Elpida's site. I'd prefer the sticks with D9PFJ chips.
Alright, since it has been brought up by Alex-Ro, Splave and XBrytanX, I'll share my private list of Elpida OEM chips and some speculations. Feel free to correct me and please don't blame me if I'm wrong!
For almost a year I've collected all the info I could find about those chips and put them in a list:

Please note that ihog6hog has posted some thoughts on this at i4memory.
This makes perfect sense, 7th symbol + lack/presence of stripes + density is what you need to decipher these Elpidas.
Will put this info in first post, kudos to ihog6hog.

Does anyone know what IC's OCZ Platinum 1600 CL7 (OCZ3P1600LV6GK) have? 30e OK price from those?
Just buyd G.Skill Pi 2200 CL7 for 60e, not bad deal?

I had a set with Elpida BBSE, but it was pretty bad (1100 7-9-7 needed 1.80V)
What IC's on these? Looks like Hyper's or D9GTR's, but could it be BBSE's?

Edit: Looks like those are specified to 2.1v so must be old micron ic's..

Awesome thread Sam
time to confuse some of you guys. )
7th symbol is B, but it definately not BBSE, no stripes and shape of IC differs from BBSE but looks very similar to PSC and BDBG
but oc is BBSE like

Some of your posts contributed to my little theory, and now you come here and destroy it. Not cool, man, not cool.
What do you think it is?
Yeah, I added it based on his photo some time ago, I guess he already posted it in the Team Russia IC thread.
On 2133 c9 trident I have also ics marked as Elpida, without stripes, looking like PSC from the side - they do 1100 7-9-7-21 easily at 1,65v, might be some OEM-Elpida out of the joint venture with PowerchipSemiconductor, there were lots of charges PSC gave to Elpida for paying debts. I think I can leave the Heatspreaders on then
great thread man!
2GB Geil ULTRA PC3-17000 CL=9-9-9-28 1,65v GU34GB2133C9DC
all over net write they are BBSE ICs, but i dont think that info is relevant for all geil ultra 2133cl9
i have here 2 kit geil ultra 2133cl9 , same behavior... all can pass 32m 2400 9-10-7-24 twcl7 , if set cl8 refuse boot
if set twcl6 ..boot ,but fail 32m
2600 cant boot even with loose latency/hight vdimm
Last edited by nachtfalke; 05-09-2013 at 10:54 PM.
I had 2 kits also,if yours can get 2400,mine were not capable of doing 32M doing DDR3-2200 9-10-9 stable at any voltage. This is one interesting fact, because i can't get how geil can guarantee DDR3-2133 9-9-9 stock, but my kits would fail DDR3-2200 no matter what :?
Same here... easy 2133 9-9-9@1.65v but no go 2400 no matter what timmings-voltage combination... went straight to 24/7 machine...
if Geil ultra and evo use BBSE ICs , definitely are the worst bbse and the cheap batch from elpida
Great thread again TaPaKaH
